Buchanan: Immigration Will Prevent Pendulum From Swinging Back
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 11/04/2008 4:39:42 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Pat Buchanan just snatched the security blanket from conservatives and stomped on it. Contemplating the prospect of an electoral loss, some conservatives are consoling themselves by imagining that the political pendulum will soon start swinging back their way.

Buchanan doesn't think so, and his very first words on the matter this morning explain why: "demography is destiny." Buchanan offered his analysis during the opening segment of today's Morning Joe.

Buchana’s not a favorite of mine but I’ve been saying the same thing for over a year. Whether Hillary or Obama were to win, kiss the Republican’s ability to ever regain power goodbye. Institutionalized Chicago style voter fraud and tactics would effectively end the Republican Party.

Pat is right. The pendulum will not swing back if 0bama wins. The veteran war hero who gave his body for his country should win this in a landslide if “Reagan democrats” still exist. If 0bama wins it means the American dream is over and we have become just another Euro satellite.

Would you point me to the article of the U.S. Constitution that guarantees the right to vote?

This election was lost two years ago. A combination of demographics, structural problems, and Republican Follies have very nearly killed conservatism as a viable political force.

Our problems are not primarily tactical but strategic. An postelection analysis which turns on tactical what-ifs serve only to compound our dilemma.

Yes, we must soldier on and go down fighting but down we will certainly go. We have to say this on the record before this election so that we have the credibility to be heard during the finger pointing in the aftermath. Some of us have been pointing to the demographic challenge for more than two years. We have warned that the fiscal debauchery of the party would kill it. I for one have saved my posts to prove it. Buchanan is right as he usually is in these matters. The fundamental challenges which faced us have been ignored for two years at the least. If they are not addressed now in the wake of this calamity when we have nowhere to go but up, and nothing to lose, we will be in the wilderness for at least a generation. Conservatism might not ever emerge as something recognizable to my generation. The Republic will have been exposed to a potential demagogue with no governmental, media, or non-governmental institutional check or balance to restrain him. Will there be enough of conservatism to bring it back?

We were not blindsided, all of this was foreseeable and predictable. In fact, it was predicted right here on free Republic.

Not so sure. Most are from Mexico/C. America. Not unacquainted with western civilization, the church, willing to work.

re: but that he will win decisively

I share your opinion, based not on any concrete evidence but on my gut. We could easily be wrong, maybe very wrong.

One thing is clear to me and that is the outcome is as you and I foresee then it will be nothing less than a gift from God. There is no reason to believe, based on the campaigns, etc., that our side should win at all. I feel the Sarah Palin is a gift from God and that after all is said and done we'll come to see John McCain in the same light.

If I were a Democrat in Chicago my day would be vote, vote, vote, vote. But since I'm a Republican in Florida my day will be vote, pray, pray, pray, pray.

God bless America!

Sorry to say, he is right. The USA is seeing it’s last best days. Our democracy is on it’s deathbed because the very principals and morals that made it great have been compromised by immigrants who hate this nation before their feet touch the soil. They come not for the love and freedom she gives but to treat her like a whore. They use and abuse her, allowing people like William Ayers not only to walk the streets of America, but teach in our schools and wipe his feet on the American flag.

It’s exceedingly hard to roll back the liberal agenda after it is enacted.

True, but that's only because the GOP hasn't had the will to do so. For whatever it's worth, the GOP controlled both Houses of Congress and the Presidency for a period of time and didn't really make any real effort to roll back governmental largess; in fact, it was a pretty major contributor.

Heck, you need not look any further than the events of the last couple months. Our President spearheaded market intervention that was beyond the wildest dreams of the most ardent New Dealer. No Democratic President could have done something like that because the GOP members of Congress would have, perhaps rightly, gone bananas.

The GOP plays better defense than it does offense, that's for certain.

Not only the junk immigrants who come from countries where they elect incompetents and keep on doing it and are now doing it here, but Demonrats will have ACORN and all that illegal activity entrenched in our electoral system where we will have nothing but mock ‘elections’. They will make it legal for criminals of every persuasion to vote because they are the party of such garbage and they will have their judges to create their own tyrannical laws to keep control. We are on the verge of a totalitarian regime if it ends up like that at the end of the night.

I agree with him. I think the country is on a down hill path. Nothing I can do about it. It is a lost cause. Maybe someday the people will revolt but I doubt it. As long as the young are ignorant and the best thing in life is sex, drugs, my face and in my face they will be lead over the cliff. Oh well nothing lasts forever and the includes the USA and the world. Sad but I think he is right. And the sad thing is there is nowhere to go and start over with Freedom.

Does anyone even care what he says about anything?

Yes. The reason he is on TV so frequently is that people find him very interesting to listen to and look forward to hearing what he has to say.

I’ve always believed the same thing.

Conservatives and republicans believe that illegal aliens are citezens of another country who are breaking the law and must be deported.

Liberals and democrats look at illigal aliens as a voting block that will provide the democratic party a guaranteed path to eternal ruling power in America.

I know a goodly number of Hispanics here in the Tampa area, all are legal immigrants and strongly support John McCain. I am not sure I know any illegals, but in this day and time it's hard to tell for sure. Goodness, even Barrack Obama could be an illegal for all we know, seriously.

The immigrants I know are mostly Cuban and they have absolutely no use tolerance whatsoever for illegals. One of them was Miss Cuba in 1953 and one of the strongest, most outspoken supporters of all things conservative I've ever met!

Win or lose today, we've simply GOT to set up a plan to take back our schools and get them back into the habit of teaching just how superior the US is to any other form of government in the world, period. We've simply got to do whatever it takes to teach our youngsters what they have, and how much it cost us in so many ways.

A generation ---get real--we go down the tubes it a return to the Dark Ages just like when Rome fell BUT WORSE --a highly technological society will unravel at the speed of light especially if we take a terrorist nuke hit

They are reproducing in exponential proportions. Pat is very pessimistic, but he is exactly right. It may be too late to save this nation.
