Pat Buchanan just snatched the security blanket from conservatives and stomped on it. Contemplating the prospect of an electoral loss, some conservatives are consoling themselves by imagining that the political pendulum will soon start swinging back their way.
Buchanan doesn't think so, and his very first words on the matter this morning explain why: "demography is destiny." Buchanan offered his analysis during the opening segment of today's Morning Joe.

Dear Pat,
I voted for you in the 2000 primaries...but don’t console me yet. I strongly believe that McCain will not only win, but that he will win decisively.

Buchanan’s pronouncement comforts me because his track record as a pundit and forecaster is wrong far more often than he is right,
I tend to ignore Pat Buchanan.
There is some truth to what he says. I not sure that the damage can be undone regardless of who wins this election.
Immigration to a country in a deep recession—probably not unless Obama brings the muslim hordes in
For a married man who continuously talks about demographics and who claims to be a good Catholic, and who moreover is quite well off, he has not a single biological or adopted child.
Keep the faith.
In northern NJ a lot of the GOP phone bank folks are hispanic. Plenty of cubans and Venezuelans. they have a strong pro life, pro family, small business culture. When I see these people I am reminded of the extended families of the italian immigrants I sprang from. I wouldn’t count conservatism out just yet with these folks. They HATE Castro and Chavez...and are not fooled by the sweet nothings of BO and the liberal wasp crowd around him.
Many people that emmigrate to the US do it for political or economic reasons. They can be fertile ground for the seeds of conservatism. The challenge to conservatives will be to package the message in a way that will be culturally appropriate. If the Republicans can do this, then conservatism can return.
Obama to naturalize all illegals and give them voting rights before 2012.
A massive influx of Muslims from Africa who will also be given voting rights by 2012.
Nationwide election day voting registration.
Elimination of all voter ID laws.
I won't say it will be completely impossible for the GOP to ever win another election, but I'm not looking for it to happen any time soon.
Don’t forget to blame the current Coyote in Chief, Jorge Arbusto.
Don’t interfere with the wrist cutting: There’s no room for you contrary facts here.
Puleeeze!
Bush’s fault.
Yup. If Obambi gets in and The Dims increase their hold on Congress, The US will be a third-world country in a generation.
On Halloween there were a great many Mexican kids trick-or-treating, and their mothers, who stood on the sidewalk, were invariably pregnant with another one. And ALL of those kids jabbered away in Spanish; not a one said anything in English to anyone. And greedy? There is no word for it. While American kids took one piece of candy from the bowl presented to them, the Mexican kids stuck their whole hand in the bowl and grabbed a fistful.
Woe to us who either never read Atlas Shrugged or refused to believe it could really happen here.
That is the sin of calumny, since you impute immoral acts to Buchanan for which you have no evidence, and moreover question his standing in the Church, again without evidence. (You also imply a moral duty to adopt children, which does not exist). Your hatred for Buchanan--who indeed does to go to Mass and receive the sacrarments regulary--is as morally disfiguring as it is rooted in slander.
Does anyone even care what he says about anything?
Kind of lame that they tried to tag him with the xenophoobic label, but then again I guess that no single speech has done more to alienate indies, mods and liberatarian minded conservatives than the whole “Take Back America” throwdown.
I’m not sure that partisan affiliation is necessarily genetic.
