Buchanan doesn't think so, and his very first words on the matter this morning explain why: "demography is destiny."

Many people that emmigrate to the US do it for political or economic reasons. They can be fertile ground for the seeds of conservatism. The challenge to conservatives will be to package the message in a way that will be culturally appropriate. If the Republicans can do this, then conservatism can return.

It's a fact that those who want to come here are fleeing, or at abandoning, a way of life that our enemies, internal and external, want to bring to our shores. I have not heard a single legal immigrant say they support Obama. Most of them are pretty outspoken about what a mistake it would be for America to buy into the line being offered by the other side.
