I was trying to think of a name for myself and that’s when I saw another small herd of caribou passing by our cabin. I thought of using “CaribouPassing”, but that just didn’t sound right to me. So Caribou Crossing it is.

'reminds me of when I bought my house out here in the woods - The day I was moving in, a moose crossed the road and ambled on down through my land - so I dubbed my place "Moose Crossing"

Even though I am finally back in the woods - I'm still not as far away from the "maddening crowd" as I'd like. Still, I'm thankful to be able to look out my windows and only see woods and sky...and the 'quiet' is priceless.

I'm not antisocial - I just prefer to choose the people I socialize with. :O)

Still, I think I feel a wee bit envious of your place further away from the madness - and it sounds like you have a view - the forest is close around me, so even though I own the land as far as I can see - I can't see very far!

However - I don't envy you your longer winters - I have enough as it is in carrying in the wood and keeping the stove going. (I did get a break tonight, though - one of my grandson's stopped by to visit and filled up my woodbox.) I love the friendly heat and scent of the wood stove and will not burn a drop of oil until the snow and ice - or a blizzard - makes it really difficult for an old lady to get the wood.

“Moose Crossing”! I love that name too...and suppose I could have used it as well since we, of course, do have moose. And wolves. Had a pack of wolves howling across the road the other night. Had a close enounter with a wolf while out moose hunting this fall too.

I am like you...not antisocial, just like to associate with those I know and like or love. I don’t like crowds, loathe cities, so this area suits me well. Even though there’s probably only about 50 people living here year round, there is plenty of companionship to go around. We all look out for each other too.

Yes, we have a view. Mountains to the north are the “artwork” in our cabin, and Mt. Sanford graces us to the south. Actually, when away from the cabin you’d see that we are literally surrounded by mountains and all of them near. It’s a beautiful and cruel land.

Yes, winters are toooooooooooo long and toooooooooooo cold. We talk of going Outside to break it up a bit, and will do that one of these days unless Obama wipes out our retirement savings.

I just filled up the woodbin on the porch, stoked the woodstove and noticed that our temp rose to 10 above after a low of -18 this morning. That’s a good, warm day. LOL

One of these days I would love to travel to Maine. Have seen beautiful pictures of your state, and the color change is spectacular too.

I don’t know exactly how that helps. We already knew he was a liar. It seems that if they have a real birth certificate for Hawaii, the game is over. What am I missing?

My take is that the MSM / Lamestream Media is out to suppress the GOP vote.

They are WAAAAAAYYYY overpolling Democraps in their polls, IGNORING factual stories negative for Obama and doing EVERYTHING they can to SMEAR McCain and especially PALIN with their lies.

It is my personal belief (and that of others) that Martin Luther King, Jr. would not and could not vote for Obama -- if he was a person of convicitons.

One member of the MLK (Sr) family and close relative of MLK (JR) has come out in support of McCain-Palin.

This is Dr. Alveda King, author of the book Sons of Thunder. The book is about her father, A. D. King, an important figure in the Civil Rights movement, and her uncle Martin -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

There are two threads about this that might influence voters:
