WASHINGTONA week from today, Americans will pick a new president, but a surprising beneficiary may be off the ballot: Mitt Romney.
With polls in key states forecasting a comfortable victory by Sen. Barack Obama and fellow Democrats, Republicans may find themselves booted out of the White House, shoved further into the minority in Congress and marginalized in the powerhouse of Washington.
If Sen. John McCain loses next Tuesday, Romney could be well positioned to rise as a leader of the Republican Party to guide conservatives through a few years in the political wilderness and a favorite for the GOP presidential nomination come 2012.

in order to unite to stop a much less conservative candidate from taking the nomination.

Duh, there was no “much less conservative candidate” than Romney to take the nomination...
McCain is far and away more conservative than Romney has EVER been...
And then we will have President Palin 2012...
I know that will make your conservative heart happy..

WHO is carrying water when it matters most? How about Kevin Madden?
Romney Supporters Trashing Palin |

BROWN: And, Kevin, even defending this whole controversy over the clothes, the RNC buying all the clothing, it keeps the story going, and, as Dana pointed out, one more day where it's dominating the coverage.
KEVIN MADDEN, FORMER ROMNEY CAMPAIGN NATIONAL PRESS SECRETARY: Yes. And that's an indication just how unseasoned Sarah Palin is as a national candidate.
Ordinarily, somebody who knows that this is something that you're trying to get to a subterranean level, that you don't want to dominate the narrative for yet another news cycle, would make sure that they don't mention that, and, instead, they focus with a certain rigidity on the message of the day, because that's exactly what a V.P. is supposed to do.
MADDEN: Look, that is why people who have done this before, people who have run national campaigns, always tend to look at prospective V.P. candidates, and they're the ones that are nationally vetted, the ones that have been governors on the scene for a long time, the ones that have been -- gone through the scrutiny of the national press corps in Washington. And that's exactly what has happened here, is that, when you put out an unknown and you give them 70 days with which to go through a vetting process, both by voters and the national press corps, ugly things can tend to happen.[Transcript HERE]].
When your position matches the MSM and Barney Frank's its time to do some serious soul searching.
You'd best save your lecture for Kevin...I voted for McCain/Palin, and I doubt Madden did.
Welcome to FRee Repulic brand new n00b...
Just read a while and you’ll see what is going on...
:)
theres full blown fallen for the ploy hook, line and sinker.

Nope...
I for one was on to Romney...
Thanks for the concern, though...
In fact, other than the RomneyBOTs on their knees to their Master, only the DNC wanted Romney.
James Carville: "It's a feel-good story, this Romney thing. Romney is an ascendant guy."
You have just proven my point. You are discussing the continigency/scenario of what would happen if the GOP loses the war next Tuesday. The false allegations about former Romney staffers are akin to the Democrats take on the war where the focus is not winning but snatching defeat from the jaws of victory based on lies of what is occuring on the ground with the troops.
Former Romney supporters will vote fro McCain/Palin in higher numbers than Evangelicals or any other group. Trying to focus on non-existant rifts in the GOP base now in the last week of the election is what the liberals are doing. They are also interested in splitting the base and "splitting Mitt off from 2012" as you say. The real question is why your position matches the MSM's?
;)
Right here..
Howya doin’ ???
:)
They are not false allegations. Names have been given,
and witnesses saw this. In fact, FReepers have been
watching the fustercluck launched by MythRomney for some time.
In fact, it is SSDD for Romney and his ‘Harpies of Hate’.
Former Romney supporters will vote for McCain/Palin in higher numbers than even Evangelicals.

Duh, no......
Am I supposed to go on defense against this accusation?
Sorry; but I won't.
Mitt is OLD news.
He could NOT carry the primaries this time.
Why do you think he could in 2012?
I plan on a McCain/Palin win Tuesday. Obama couldn't even get half his party's vote. Plus in Florida and Michigan the DEM's screwed their voters over in the primary. McCain does well in Florida and Romney has been stumping in Michigan quite a bit for McCain this last month. Romney has raised 20 million for McCain/Palin. as well as been stumping for 30 other key battleground races inthe house and senate.
Romney supporters are doing everything possible to
destroy the McCain/Palin campaign.
They surely will vote for Obama.

Actual transcript from CNN interview which I personally saw.
Former Romney supporters will vote fro McCain/Palin in higher numbers than Evangelicals or any other group.
That is total erraneous speculation on your part! Sarah has unified the Evangelicals like no one would have imagined. Put down and Koolaid and step away from your keyboard!
I don’t need to be preached to by a religious bigot.
Get it?
Now, DON’T POST TO ME AGAIN.
Unfortunately yes. Enough Southern Evangelicals already voted for the liberals Huck and McCain over Fred in the primary states. What place did conservatives Fred and Duncan come in in SC? Duncan is an Evangelical as well but they were more interested in the populist message the Huckster was peddling. Just look up the stats from SC or Iowa Primaries or Rush Limbaughs voter analysis of the Florida vote based on religiou affiliation. Iowa is especially interesting as over half the state is Evangelical. Iowa, unfortunately turned out record numbers on the Dem side. Utah on the other hand is the only state Clinton came in third in. They have the highest GOP rate in every election. Former Romney supporters will vote for the GOP in higher numbers than any other group.
Your state of Tennessee has a particularly poor showing as Fred came in 5th and Duncan 8th. Who was your vote for? Let me guess. The Huckster.
Anyway I'm done posting about the battles from a year ago. We can all agree that this week is the time to unite behind Palin.
Too bad, the Mythster and his malignant "Harpies of Hate" did not feel the same way.
