Just heard on the news at the half hour (3:30 central), that the new Survey Alabama poll has McCain at 62% and Osama bin-lyin' Obama 35%. Just what the heck is wrong with the rest of the country!!?!?!??!?
That is called “the Black Belt” because the earth is black and fertile. Many folks there live on government hand-outs.

Correct. Due to the richness of the soil, it was the main area of settlement for slaves. Despite a declining population, it still is the central area of black settlement in Alabama.
My situation sounds very similar to yours. I was all Winchester Model 70s and the odd Remington 700 bull barrel (MILSPEC 5R) or the Husqvarna sporter.
A few years back I bought an M1A and had so much darn fun it was followed by an AR-15A2, M-1, M-1 Carbine, 1903A3, and No. 4 Mk. I.
Fun stuff, but also, I’m in good shape - “just in case”.
It would be interesting to compare polling data in the non-battlegrounds.
There is no reason that the persuasive effects of the media’s alleged description of the obama should not be in effect there.
If there is little or no movement in non battleground polls, that would suggest that indeed the Media is cooking the polls.
I have no doubt personally that they are but it would be another interesting proof of the matter.

We’uns down here in Alabama admit that some of us’uns won’t vote for Obama cause they’z racist . . . but not that many.
And some of us’ens won’t vote for Obama cause they’z think he’s a Muslim.
But more of us in Alabama than the MSM likes to admit will not vote for him because we keep up with what is going on better than they do. And we know that Obama is, at best, a socialist, if not an outright Marxist, who is a product of the corrupt Chicago political machine, who has integral connections with ACORN that fueled the FNMA/ Freddie Mac boondoggle, which had a symbiotic relationship with the corrupt and greedy investment banks that securitized that garbage and provided the raw material for the investment banks to ply their trade, and we know that Sarah Palin’s 17 year old daughter has been vetted by the MSM media more than Obama has, and we know that his 95% tax cut represents nothing more that negative taxation that constitutes a redistribution of the wealth scheme, and we know that taxation of corporations is passed on to the customers of those corporations and in reality represents a hidden tax on ALL citizens, including the poor, and we know a he## of a lot more, etc., etc. about why it is dangerous and absurd to even think about voting for this evil man whose fundamental beliefs are utterly antithetical to the principles and values that made America the greatest country on earth.
AND WE RESENT BEING CALLED RACIST BECAUSE WE REFUSE TO VOTE FOR A MARXIST!!!!!!!!
I have dual citizenship, AL & UT. I’m happy to be in both, but the “commute” is a real b-i-itch.
I’m registered only in Utah as that’s where we spend most of our time. One thing’s for sure, regardless of where I vote, I’ll be voting in a red state.

Actually, if my geography memory serves, Selma is just a bit north, just west of Montgomery, and Tuskegee a bit further north, between Montgomery and Atlanta, near Auburn.
There was a Winchester 70 on Swicoautions bid was $275.
I checked several places on the price.
I called our local Wal Mart and they had 2, .308 or .270,
either new for $250.00.
