PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08

Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3

While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

I know it has nothing to do with football.

Nov.4th is what counts.

People don’t seem to realize that.

I thought I heard that. If he does that, then more people will cry for a national health plan. That’s when the feds really take over and we are officially a socialist state.

Not true. We want, and very much like and respect, Nutmeg.

Irrespective of the faults of Romney, Nutmeg
has a right to have supported him.

I don’t think its that bad, they still have to pay for the house, they still pay interest. The neighborhood does’nt go to crap ect. The house gets paid for. The only provision I would put in it is a penalty if they sell the house later when housing prices go back they have to turn the difference back over to the government.

Its all panderfest in this townhall debate format.

Concur...I was hoping for some fireworks and wanted to see Obama tied to the Freddie/Fannie mess via Raines, Johnson, Gorelick etc... Alas, the format and BHO's reluctance- for good reason- to rise to the "cronies" bait- kept things quiet. The overall situation is still in doubt.

“McCain took that last question, built on it and hit it out of the park at the end. Country First! I want to see a rerun of the last question again. It showed what he believes and where his heart is and its not about him. Shivers and a fuzzy screen at that ending.”

I agree. We need to remember that Tom Brocow :) chose the questions that were supposedly sent in by these voters in attendance who “have not decided who they will vote for”. I don't believe that anyone at this time has not made up their minds or at least leans closer to one than the other.
A real town hall meeting consists of the audience actually asking their own questions and there would be no need for the moderator to know in advance what they are....any more than the candidate. I would not call this debate a town hall at all because Tom Brocow decided on the questions. And then he gets in there and asks questions of his own? Why didn't the audience get to ask so called “discussion questions” or “follow-up questions”. All those were from Tom Brocow. No doubt Obama knew the questions, but in my opinion McCain still won the debate and my favorite line from McCain when asked by Brocow who would he consider for Sec. of Treasury, McCain said “not you Tom”. :)

My sister is a rather typical undecided voter.

Things she likes about Obama’s policies:

Health Care for All Americans.

Higher taxes for millionaires, and abusive golden parachutes, etc.

She voted for Bush last time, is leaning toward Obama now.

Those are the people who will decide the election.

I went back to the football game after I saw what was happening. That was unfair and disgusting out of CSPAN or was it NBC with the pool coverage?

economically, the next four years are going to be very difficult for the Republic. If McCain is not elected, BO will be so inept, so incompetent, that he will not be able to enact the bulk of his asinine policies. Accordingly, the GOP will be well positioned to recapture one or both chambers in 2010.
