[history]
John McCain announced that he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged his opponent Barack Obama to do the same.
The Arizona senator also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone Fridays scheduled debate with Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.
America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen, McCain said.

No one knows what the hell he's talking about half the time unless you have the "Hannity speak" interpretation device turned on. It's his continual repetition of catch phrases that bugs me. If he didn't do that, his show could be squeezed into 50 minutes.

Still, my point stands - if the economy is important enough to miss the Presidential debate Friday, it's important enough to skip out on the Clinton's tonight. The Senate won't be open and nobody will be around to work with. McCain catches a flight after his dinner tonight and is in DC tomorrow morning, working through the week. McCain has offered REPEATEDLY to debate Obama anytime, anywhere, and the Obamedia never ask Obama about this.

The US Economy is going to freefall into an abyss not seen in nearly 80 years!!
These particular mortgages amount to 5% of the total.

Sorry, BO, but I dont think Americans will accept a present vote this time around. Exactly, not this time! This economic problem literally is hitting too close to every American home.
Barry, in his smug & arrogant way just said, he can multi task, and in the same breath said "call me if ya need me". Obama shows no leadership whatsoever. he wants to play Defensively while we need a great offense with this problem.

Well, has anyone checked to see if today’s trolls are the same folks telling us all was rosy with the economy up until the last week or so? The same folks who are concerned about their bottom line ahead of conservative principles when there is a choice to make.

In the sense that some companies will be saved from “failing”, you may have a point. But on the other hand, if the market was being rational — rather than valuing their assets at zero — they would not fail.
What Paulsen contemplates is really having the government be a “rational” buyer when the nonfunctional market is being irrational.

You are clueless about what is really at stake in this crisis. Even Obama admitted that it was similar to the Great Depression.
Obama is clueless for putting it on the same level as the Great Depression and anybody who buys into Obama's beliefs is also clueless.
Is the financial crisis severe? Yes, but we've known that for months (and in some cases years). If John McCain just realized that today, then he is even more clueless than Obama.
Like I said, what is John McCain going to do in the next two days to fix this, that President Bush, the Senate as a whole, the House of Representatives, and all of the government economists, can't do, and why can John McCain make time for the Clintons tonight, but not make time on Friday night for the debate?

Just yesterday a friend wondered if McCain was going to pull a stunt to avoid the debate. McCain sure looks bad as if running scared. Just yesterday a friend wondered if Obama was going to pull a stunt saying "That was my idea". (Since McCain has had all the good ideas this month). Obama sure looks immature, now that he's gone and done it!

“Intrade? LOL, the same Intrade that had Bush at 15% on election day 2004?”
Yes, that Intrade, also the same Intrade that had Pawlenty at something like the 70 plus percent favorite for VP on the night before Sarah was announced as VP.

Fox News reporting Harry Reid called McCain and told him he wouldnt be helpful in Washington and isnt needed there. Surprise, surprise. Seriously? And I had thought my opinion of Reid couldn't drop any lower... we're into live boy or dead woman range here. He can see that Obama looks like a complete fool right now and is trying to cover for him.
