'SNL' Palin 'Incest' Skit Angers Viewers Viewers, Bloggers Think Skit Went Over Line

POSTED: 11:30 am EDT September 22, 2008 UPDATED: 12:14 pm EDT September 22, 2008 For the second week in a row, NBC's "Saturday Night Live" has taken to lampooning Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin -- but this time, it has angered conservative viewers over a skit that suggests that the Alaska governor's husband, Todd Palin, was having sex with the couple's daughters.

In the skit, show guest host James Franco plays an assignment editor at the New York Times at the head of an editorial meeting. During a mock assignment meeting where the paper announced that 50 reporters were being sent to look for dirt on Sarah Palin, a Times "reporter" asks, "What about the husband? You know he's doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It's Alaska."

In response, Franco's character said, "He very well could be. Admittedly, there is no evidence of that, but on the other hand, there is no convincing evidence to the contrary. And these are just some of the lingering questions about Gov. Palin."

Saw the skit and thought it was nothing but homosexual cliches and vicious attacks against Palin’s husband. There is no reason for us to laugh at incest. The Polar bear jokes were beyond stupid.

Some of us would like to laugh at a joke every decade or so which is why we don’t watch that pablum show. That shark jumped before Happy Days.

Persistent you are, but I think you miss the point. Jokes about incest, regardless of who is the butt of the joke, simply aren’t funny. It is a debased mind that finds humor in that topic.

I have seen the video. The suggestion that Todd Palin is committing incest with his daughters is reprehensible. It is irrelevant to me that a bigoted reporter is making the accusation.

In your glee that SNL is mocking the NYT, you are quite willing to overlook this despicable act of impugning Todd Palin's honor. But I can find no humor here. I am rather sad that this passes for humor today because it ruins what might have been a good piece of satire.

I have seen the whole skit, from beginning to end, from the start to the finish, from a to z, from alpha to omega, from top to bottom, completely, wholly, entirely, integrally, the whole enchilada.

It could have been a good piece of biting satire if they had left out the incest part. That was uncalled for.

It occurs to me that when the new “Moose Hunting” Palin song was posted the other day on FR as performed by Pat Garrett, anti Palin types on the source site were writing posts that implied Garrett has a criminal record involving children. I could find nothing online saying any such thing, so figure this must be a new, sick Dem strategy, the pedophile/incest insinuation. Wouldn’t surprise me.

I have seen it for myself, I stand by my comments. The Palin family was smeared. The liberals at SNL wrapped the smear in a "we were talking about the media" blanket. They did not have to state Todd was having sex with his own daughters in the skit to show NYT media bias.

Give the libs a pass if you will. To me they are guilty until proven innocent.
