Sarah Palin’s Yahoo account hijacked, e-mails posted online

Mod note: Do no post any screenshots of Governor Palin's Yahoo account on Free Republic.
Thank you.

On the heels of media reports that Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was using a private Yahoo e-mail account (gov.palin@yahoo.com) to conduct Alaska state business, hackers have broken into the account and posted evidence of the hijack on Wikileaks.

An activist group calling itself ‘anonymous’ claimed responsibility for the compromise and released screenshots, photographs and the e-mail addresses of several people close to Palin, including her husband Todd and assistant Ivy Frye.

You do not understand hackers at all. As a matter of fact, I doubt you grasp anything about the technologies you are espousing on.

I am a hacker. I interface with business systems with no open interface by getting down into something that is not published, open or supported in many cases and pull it apart till I understand it, and am able to deliver solutions to my customers.

What this guy or guys did wasn’t even hacking. It was akin to identity theft. Social engineering. Data mining.

There was nothing a real hacker sees in that of any skill, ability, or knowledge. It was what real hackers call idiot script kiddies, and they do so with disdain.

I just hope he can hold onto those logs for more than 7 days if LE doesn’t get to him in time (I think they will).

I guess I jumped to conclusions. I read into the article that his service provided the web anonymity which the hackers used to break into the e-mail account. I missed the part about his website logging IP addresses as a precaution against illegal activities. Hopefully he provides the info that the FBI needs in solving this whole thing.

Wearing tennis shoes to your prom is still inexcusable. :)

Okay, I’m being a Dem...My emotions are overcoming me right now. Things like this will only fire up McCain’s supporters even more, America is not Chicago.
Another thing, the Spanish ad linking McCain to Rush is SUCH A LIE. Any reader here knows the McCain/Rush relationship and it’s not exactly loving. The fact that they imply that John was against immigrants (I didn’t support the amnesty bill by the way) is way beyond dishonest.

It’s really on now, if I’m this fired up, I know I’m not alone.

Yeah, he is. It would appear that the real perp’s identity has hit the internets. If so, this investigation will be over quickly and will flow right back to the Dems.

Don’t let them get to you.

Palin is going to destroy O’Biden in the debates, as is McCain going to destroy Obambi

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to the debates (I've calmed down). I think this email thing is going to blow up in their faces, especially due to the fact the AP won't release the email copies.

what business was she conducting, exactly?

Exactly. None.

So you are saying that her press secretary could have just said that she doesn't use it for state business, instead of saying: "She is allowed to keep e-mails confidential if they fall into certain categories, such as 'deliberative process'."

Hmmm...

Good, then maybe you should not assume that she used that email for government business when no such evidence exists that to be the case.

She is allowed to keep e-mails confidential if they fall into certain categories, such as "deliberative process," said her press secretary, Bill McAllister. [regarding the Yahoo! account]

There's flat-out reference by her staff to using the personal account to discuss business...for example...
As far as McLeod can tell, all but one of the e-mails to the governor used her private e-mail address. The one time an aide e-mailed the governor's state account, he was reminded not to.

"Frank, This is not the Governor's personal e-mail account," an assistant to Palin wrote to Bailey in February.

"Whoops~!" Bailey responded in an e-mail.

Yeah, they are pretty upset that someone in the group had qualms about it, so they shut the access down before seeing much in the account. But the original evidence is clear that there was something in there.

I say all this as a long-time fan of Gov. Palin.

I delete any “personal” yahoo emails as soon as I get them

I hope you don't think
that just because you have 'deleted' an e-mail
Yahoo doesn't retain a copy of it!

Please, share this "original evidence" by all means.
