Mod note: Do no post any screenshots of Governor Palin's Yahoo account on Free Republic.
Thank you.
On the heels of media reports that Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was using a private Yahoo e-mail account (gov.palin@yahoo.com) to conduct Alaska state business, hackers have broken into the account and posted evidence of the hijack on Wikileaks.
An activist group calling itself anonymous claimed responsibility for the compromise and released screenshots, photographs and the e-mail addresses of several people close to Palin, including her husband Todd and assistant Ivy Frye.

Looks bogus to me. Why would she need to use Yahoo to conduct state business?
If you decide you want a safer email account, let me know. I can instantly arrange one for you.
Wikileaks said it may release additional e-mails should they prove be of political substance.
In other words they have more then they have released but are holding them if they prove useful in torpedoing the McCain-Palin ticket.
I applaud them, actually. It’s ridiculous for a government to entrust a company like Yahoo to sufficiently protect the privacy of email and account information. There is no oversight over Yahoo. There is no way to make them accountable for lapses. It’s poor management. The Bush administration has done this, too, and it is stupid and irresponsible. Private industry managers would be fired over something this idiotic. I work in IT and guarding information for my company is of the highest priority. Information management can’t be left to the boobs at Yahoo.
I'm betting this is a fake account created by the Obamites for propaganda purposes.
Lol. You don’t like Sunshine?
Ya gotta have it on Gov. accounts so we can see what is written and so the hackers can be prosecuted for higher crimes.
Not a great idea for a governor with national aspirations to use a Yahoo mail accoun
I couldn’t get the page to load (server probably overloaded)
Unfortunately this looks like something the MSM/DBM will grab and run with.
“No email McCain” may be the smart policy guy.
Nope, it means that they gots bupkiss. Idle threat. If they had anything, it would already be on kos.
And doing so puts valuable government information at risk. I'd be fired if I used my private email account to distribute files and information related to my work, rightfully so. Wanting to keep oversight committees in the legislature from being able to perform their oversight functions isn't a good enough reason to do something this stupid. The Alaska governor's office can seek help from the courts to keep things private, and live with the judgment of the courts.
What is Wikileaks and who is behind it?
Oh, and THANK YOU, idiots - the Republicans can call this “Yahoo-gate” and compare it to the Watergate break-in. Then they can prosecute the dipwads who hacked a private email account.
FWIW, if they DIDN’T find anything legally incriminating - even in her private email account - then they just handed Palin the keys to the White House. IDIOTS! THANK YOU!!
Gee, this is hugh and series. I hope they don’t hack georgewbush@freerepublic.com or algore@freerepublic.com.
I agree for the most part. I hope this gets tons of attention from the MSM. The backlash will be deafening.
Check this: http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/6796
It includes photos of her family, contacts, etc. IMO, this will get her a LOT of sympathy from anyone who wouldn’t want their own email hacked.
Wikileaks is a website that grabs internal documents and posts them for all to see basically.
Who is behind it not sure but they don't strictly do political leaks, they also do companies, non-profits, and churches as well.
They're basically an open secrets type website.
Of course. No online account is safe from an administrator account with full privileges. And since there are such backdoor options to the data, hackers can get to them, too.
Its actually a felony to intercept electronic messages directed to an individual. Unless this person is very smart, they’re looking at jail time
