Minus U.S. Money, Obama Team Presses Donors
New York Times ^ | September 9, 2008 | MICHAEL LUO and JEFF ZELENY

After months of record-breaking fund-raising, a new sense of urgency in Senator Barack Obama’s fund-raising team is palpable as the full weight of the campaign’s decision to bypass public financing for the general election is suddenly upon it.

Pushing a fund-raiser later this month, a finance staff member sent a sharply worded note last week to Illinois members of its national finance committee, calling their recent efforts “extremely anemic.”

At a convention-week meeting in Denver of the campaign’s top fund-raisers, buttons with the image of a money tree were distributed to those who had already contributed the maximum $2,300 to the general election, a subtle reminder to those who had failed to ante up.

The signs of concern have become evident in recent weeks as early fund-raising totals have suggested that Mr. Obama’s decision to bypass public financing may not necessarily afford him the commanding financing advantage over Senator John McCain that many had originally predicted.

Not even in office yet and The One has mismanaged a budget and run up debt. It appears that all that executive experience really does qualify him to hold office as a Dem.

Without the dough, it’s gonna be tough for Zero to book the rock stars he needs to fill his venues! 1500 people in a Michigan gym is what his next 2 months will look like. Wonder if he’ll have enough gas for Zero-Force One!

It collected in June and July far less from Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s donors than originally projected.”

That ain’t good news for bambi. If they’re not giving they’re not gonna be voting.

I wonder how much he did pay for that convention? There sure was a lot of flash and he actually used two venues and each had it’s own backdrop. That had to be expensive.

The Republicans, on the other hand, chose a simplier, most assuredly less expensive approach to there convention. I think they got more bang for the buck!

If my children make a mistake in the voting booth, I don't want them punished with a community organizer.

Never bring a Community Organizer to a Moose Hunt.

Community Organizer = Old Indian word for poor Moose Hunter.

Cheers!

Guess he should have kept some of that Rezko money...

Or, he could always ask his brother in Kenya for a loan.

Or, he could go the route of China. He's probably already asked Clinton and Gore how he can pull that trick off again without getting caught.

Am seeing very few Obama ads in Washington state and a lot of McCain ads. Polls show McCain is closing in on Obama.

Also, very few news reports on Obama; and his “invitation only” event in Michigan had very few attendees.

I’m guessing the internal polls and the smart money know his chances of a victory are going down the toilet.

Money is a momentum thing.....no one wants to give to a losing proposition.

I’d hate to be Obama and have to go out and raise large sums this week.....

As a plus all that extra money McCain can’t use goes to
support other Republican candidates, that spells coattails.
I want a MANDATE this election, I want to turn the house and Senate, I want to strike FEAR into every liberal heart.
I want FOUR conservative originalist Supreme Court Judges
in the next four years. Be afraid Liberals, be very afraid!

I had thought the DNC had troubles after the faux Greek Column deal in Denver?

If Obamao uses even their money up, the DNC will be in rough shape...really rough shape..

Hmm...perhaps an appeal for Obamaoists to sell their Star Trek memorabilia on Ebay and donate to Obamao?

I don't know. But even if there is a time limit, Barry is a DemocRAT. Rules don't apply to RATS.

I don't know why they don't, they just don't.
