"You're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith," Obama said before Stephanopoulos corrected him.

Hmmm...why is George correcting him? Such gaffes from Obama occur far too often to be summarily dismissed with the excuses given. I think this is the first time in history that a political party has hired a full-time Gaffe Corrector and a Foot-In-Mouth-Fire-Put'er-Outter for their presidential nominee. It should be even more fun to watch after Joe sobers up and reemerges into the public eye.

I agrre with you. Obama has NEVER faced a tough election fight, and he can’t hide behind his teleprompter all the time. He is behind in the polls so he has to be more aggressive, but he risks exposing his lack of being able to think on his feet it he does. Once the teleprompter is gone, and he does not know the questions ahead of time, he is totally lost.

Islam is the religion of peace, right? And anyway, he was probably drunk or high when he said it....
May the peace of Allahwho be upon you, yes yes.

Another point to make here. Obama has been a member of the United Church of Christ (UCC) denomination for over 20 years.

The UCC has a long track record of being pro-abortion,anti-Israel, pro-welfare state, and other leftist ideologies.

So Obama’s long term involvement with the UCC would be enough reason to not vote for him.

His gaffes regarding Muslims is icing on the cake why Americans need to totally reject Obama’s leftist ideologies.

Smart of the Obama campaign to put out a press release on this to keep it alive.

They're either very clever (trying to blame McCain for it, the way ABC did), or very dumb. I'm voting for the latter.

All we are asking is for this candidate, all candidates, to level with us. It is not his religion or lack of same that bothers me. It is the fact that he refuses to be honest with the voters. If he wants the mantle as a “different” kind of politician, honesty is a basic tenet that must be in place.

Oh, and the Marxism he spouts doesn’t help either.

“You’re not allowed . . .”

Spot on, Cicero.

Farther up the page there’s commentary about the McCain campaign playing hardball with the media. Then this from the O campaign.

On C-SPAN over the weekend, an Obama biographer defended him by quoting Obama in one of his own books. Apparently he wasn't a very good student at his "multi-cultural" school and kept acting up in Koran class. The biographer also defended him by saying that both of his grand parents were "dedicated atheists and so was his mother".

Only his roots were Muslim and he was an Atheist till he became a black liberation "Christian" for political reasons.

Gee, I feel lots better.

There was a specific statement on the website of Obama’s particular black power “church” that all were welcome, including Muslims. I guess that must be for the black Muslim contingent. IIRC, Wright was a Black Muslim before he decided that the pay and influence were better at the UCC.

Isn't Barry's campaign being run by a bunch of Toon retreads?

I grant the fact that he was not an ACTIVE muslim but he did spend time praying and studying it as a youngster. The fact that he and his campaign are trying to sweep this under the rug and deny it just creates the impression that he is trying to hide something. Had he just told the truth and explained the circumstances, it would be a non issue.

Indeed.

"IMO, this makes our side look like fools without evidence to back up their claims."

I am not saying we should make a major issue of this but I do think we should have fun with it. He is being billed as the Messiah, great intellectual, powerful orator...

This slip shows he is very human and rather ordinary without a teleprompter.

I also think after eight years of EVERY Bush gaffe being broadcast on EVERY network repeatedly, turnabout is fair play.

Of course he's not a Muslim. He was an Atheist (tutored by Communist, poet Franklin Marshall) until he needed "Christianity" to sucker the dupes on the Southside of Chicago.

The man doesn't have a single friend who isn't or wasn't a radical. Yes, "This is the United States", but not for long if he gets elected.

Can't wait until the debates!

Debates nowadays are so staged, so controlled, I imagine the Obamessiah will do just fine. In a real, back-and-forth debate I think he'd get his clock cleaned. But I can't remember the last time I saw one of those.

It shows Obama is rattled; he cannot stand up to the heat of the election contest.

My Uncle, who fought in both World Wars and was fluently spoke several languages, always said that if you wound someone, they will cry out in their native tongue.

Hussein's 20 or so years of pretending and covering up just went down the drain.

Who actually believes that Obama has any religious beliefs?
