Wow, Wow, a Thousand Times Wow

What did we see tonight?

Tonight, we either saw a watershed in American politics, a tour de force, the most striking and graceful debut in our nation’s political life, and a national introduction that makes Barack Obama’s 2004 convention address look like small potatoes… or we saw what we wanted to see, and the country’s persuadable independents saw something else. I’m afraid to believe. If I’m wrong, I don’t really know what Americans want. I know conservatives are thrilled to pieces, and they ought to be. She knocked it out of the park. I don’t think she could have delivered that speech any better. Even if I hadn’t suggested a line, I would say that the speech hit almost every note just right. (Did the Obama fans feel this way? Is this what their exultation feels like? Wonderful. I’m glad they get to experience it too.)

My e-mail box is thrilled. Cam's Talkbackers are thrilled — "you called down the thunder, and now ya have it."

Anyone else notice her comment about having a servant’s heart, and that would be the spirit that would take her to Washington? Am I stating the obvious, or am I the only one who finds this to be a thinly-veiled shout-out to believers?

I thought this was the best phrase I have heard in a very long time from any politician. It may have been a nod to Christians, and that's fine with me if it was, but it also has a deeper meaning in American government that has been lost since I can remember. "with a Servants Heart" just keeps playing in my head over and over, and I have been thinking how I could apply that to my own life. I think about humility and quiet pride. I think about working hard and being comeptant. I compare this to the emperor mentality of the Obama campaign, and how suddenly "Styrofoam" it really all looks now.

The most important thing was the larger picture of a really neat family and I found myself as interested in the youngest daughter, the young soldier, the baby, even the middle daughter. They’re a family.

I had to record the speech because I was busy getting the girls ready for school. Watched it on PBS because we're the only family on the face of the earth without cable (or so my kids tell me).

Little Piper Palin is a hoot! Did anyone else catch the part where she tried spiffing up her baby brother with a spit shine? Between that and her waving to the crowd like a pro I was totally charmed. She's her momma's girl, that's for sure!

The best part about her speech is that she didn't sound like the typical politician!! She was relaxed and confident, which really confused the pundits. After all, she hasn't had any real campaign experience in their minds, notwithstanding the fact that she ran a tough campaign for Governor against BOTH the Republican AND the Democrat parties in Alaska.

I was just thrilled with her speech, and I just howled at the pit-bull, hockey Mom joke; lipstick, indeed!

Question to the MSM, you set your sights on a woman who hunts moose. Did you honestly think you could SCARE her?

You my FRiend make a very valid point. Moose are critters that one doesn't want to mess with.

Of course, the libs can’t bear to think that the speech she delivered was intellectually honest, and righteously brutal to the poseurs on the Dem ticket.

Apparently, the talking point that came out of the DNC to put Sarah down was "nice delivery, but of course SHE didn't write the speech".
Well DUH! How many speeches has Obama given that he actually wrote himself? I daresay not very many, and it's obvious, because when he's speaking extemporaneously, he mumbles and sometimes can't keep a thought. Sarah, on the other hand, speaks well, off the cuff. She's an absolute natural, and you can tell the speech was crafted for her, because it SOUNDED like her, and she was very comfortable delivering it.

When she was done, my hubby, SirKit said "Obama and Biden are dead".

The Hillary sites are gushing over Palin.

Yes, they are. Another thing the Dems overlooked with the Hillary supporters: I was peeking at the speech thread on http://hillaryclintonforum.net earlier, and after Sarah's speech, which they were over the moon about, they were totally flipping out over the actual roll call that they never got at the DNC. That's going to cost the Dems, too.

Speeches like this are, first of all, strategic. But I have no doubt that Palin was heavily involved, pushed for certain big edits, and overall the speech reflects the Governor's style matched with the points the campaign felt needed to be made.

Great start. Palin passed her first test. She needs to pass two other tests. If she does well in the next tests, we could actually win this year.

1) Hold a townhall meeting in a swing state (MI, OH, or CO)on her own so she can answer the media smears against her and set the record straight.

2) The debate with Biden will be critical. Since she is being smeared as a bimbo and Biden is viewed as a intellect on foreign policy, Plain only needs to tie with Biden.

Sarah and her family are remarkable in that as ordinary and common as such are to be found among Americans in many ways, pursuing honorable lives as they can, they are infrequently highlighted in the public milieu. We are mostly offended by disgusting, odious, and demoralizing trash celebrity and corrupt weaseley "leaders," as the successful winners in our society; now to the extent that any public presentation of persons of integrity, heart, honor, and ethics most of us so wish to adhere to, merits our astonishment that such still exists.

Hopefully at the nadir of "defining deviancy down," we are at the present, seriously ill served by the mass media and their immoral gatekeepers and court jesters! And the sickeningly awful crud that constitute the Democrap party today.

We anticipate that these crud will be on full attack against someone who would dare bare, "ruin her life," and even love a "defective" child, and too many other expensive rug rats, and who would also be so dumb as to sanction bearing an unplanned pregnancy to fruition, that may "punish" her kin, who might see the idiocy in the "non-arguable" PC position of MGL, to refuse to develop our fossil fuel resources, to be so audacious as otherwise to spit in the face of the liberal know-it-alls on so many issues. Oh, and not the least sin, to let her son fall into the armed services - what a dolt!

Geeze, how could such a person be elevated to a national stage?
