ABC: Palin Pregnancy a 'Damaging Revelation'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 09/01/2008 2:28:19 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Bristol Palin's pregnancy is a "damaging revelation " that has caused Sarah Palin's image to "suffer." Says who? Says ABC News, in an article by Rick Klein and Jennifer Parker.

In Palin Pregnancy Rocks Political World, Klein and Parker report reaction from a variety of Republican and traditional-values sources. Every one, from Dr. James Dobson to Grover Norquist to Chuck Donovan of the Family Research Council to a pro-life delegate to the GOP convention who said "the fact that her daughter's keeping it and marrying the father is wonderful," had a positive reaction.

But what do they know? Declare Klein and Parker emphasis added]:

Palin's image may suffer further if more damaging revelations come out in the coming days and weeks.

I actually do think that the MSM or some of them have been paid off
there is no way they could have ignored all the connections and dealings and statements from obama without being paid off

So is it a damaging revelation in and of itself, or is it a damaging revelation because the MSM are going to make it bad? If it’s because of the MSM, then everything about our candidates is bad because that’s how they frame matters. Take your pick: cutting taxes, fighting terrorists, believing in God, and so on.

Anyone that’s been on FR for any length of time, knows it...they probably just won’t admit it.

>>I’ve had perfect human beings here at FR telling me all day that it matters.<<

IMO, it does matter. It matters a whole lot.
The daughter did not abort the baby. The father stuck around and is “doing the right thing”, the grandparents are not stringing her up for this.

The only other thing that I could think of to make it different but beautiful, would be if the girl gave the baby up for adoption.

Just different though.

It's unlikely the boyfriend is married--so no adultery involved.

If the daughter is 5 months pregnant now, she probably realized that she was pregnant about the time her little brother was born. Watching how her family coped with the challenge of welcoming a baby with Down Syndrome may have kept her from considering even for a minute the option of avoiding embarrassment by killing her own unborn baby.

Its funny how they howl when someone mentioned Chelsea

IIRC, Chelsea was supposed to be off limits as a 28 yo ADULT this year when she was campaigning for her mom. Sheesh!!!

Thanks for the ping.

You're welcome.

...further damage McCain’s standing among conservatives.

Well, McCain is already damaged goods.

Sorry ABC, where were you when Al Gore, III was caught multiple times, driving drunk and in possession of drugs? No damaging revelations for Albert Gore, Jr. huh?

It's difficult for even a stay-at-home mom (or dad) to keep tabs on every one of their older kids 24/7.

No kidding. I've been homeschooling for 14 years. Now my 17-year-old daughter is attending community college every morning, driving herself. She has the opportunity to get into trouble, which she has rarely had before this point. I hope she has the good judgment and good morals to refrain from sex before marriage ... but teenagers do things they know are foolish and wrong, even more than adults do (per their auto-insurance rates :-).

Every sensible family has considered the possibility of their son's or daughter's unexpectedly become a parent, and is aware of the options after you throw you hands up sigh, "Shoot, that was stupid and you knew better!"

believe me, the MSM is gonna make it sound as bad as possible.

And doing that will backfire on them.

Plenty of Americans, of all races and all political persuasions have had "unexpected" additions to their family.

Those people just might vote for the party that protects the unborn the way they did.

Barack could lose some Democratic voters, who are turned off by this reminder that he thinks an unexpected pregnancy is a "punishment."

I’m willing to bet that there are a good number of Freepers who have been the Palin’s place. Both as parents and as daughter/boyfriend.

I know I have.

No kidding. She got a sweet heart job at a hedge fund making $100k and she hasn’t been to work in almost 2 years. If I don’t show up, I get canned. By the way, my wife is my boss.
She is a b@ll breaker, I tells ya’!

Is that ABC-Speak for "we have additional information coming out in the coming days and weeks?"

Well, McCain is already damaged goods.

True, but the media will do their best to drive a wedge between him and any conservative constituency. Another thought experiment: headline that says "McCain's VP pick said to improve standing with gays". Or substitute abortionists.

Some are trolls, some are hardhearted, some are perfect. What can I say?

Most of what I’ve been reading is very encouraging. All of us either know of someone or have been there ourselves.

He who is perfect can cast stones. I’ve squating in the back hoping not to be noticed!

Actually, considering the discussions going on around FR today, they are correct. Just how damaging it is will be up to us. The Left has some of us thinking like LOSERS again. We will get what we deserve.

I doubt if any of the nitwits whining about this news were on board with the Palin pick anyway. They see it as an opportunity to ditch her and pick the one they wanted.
