I was using birth control at the age of 18 and still got pregnant. I married the father and the marriage lasted 6 years and then I divorced. I am sad to say their father died 4 years ago so he is not in their lives.
I was on welfare for three months afterwards and then got a job answering phones at a bank and worked my way up the ladder and now own my own home and have two sons I treasure.
Stuff like this happens. It is how you handle it in the end that should really matter. Let me tell you things like this force you to grow up quick. I owe a lot of the wisdom I have now, to my past. It made me an adult real quick.

I fail to see the problem. 17 year old girls get pregnant all the time. Too many of them kill their unborn baby. This young lady has been raised well enough to not do that. God bless her, the young father whom I understand that she is going to marry and bless both of their families beyond the young life that He has chosen this time to bring into this world.

Judging by the response from values voters on this thread, the overwhelming opinion is that "when life throws you a lemon, you make lemonade." They're getting married and keeping their baby and will start a family. You know, white picket fence, camcorders, Disney World vacations, SpongeBob and Teletubbies, Little League Baseball and soccer. All fun stuff. I love every second of it and would recommend it to anyone.
If they don't have a problem with it, the unwashed masses and independent voters won't have a problem with it. Heck, it makes Sarah Palin and her family must see TV. It's a reality show that just kicked Osama's butt in the ratings and his show has been canceled.

Having read Mark Steyn's "America Alone," I heartily agree. And I also agree because the Palins seem to be very loving and family-oriented, and although this is a mixed blessing, they'll focus on the "blessing" part.
Well, that’s too bad the daughter did that, but I don’t think it says anything bad about Sarah Palin. The daughter is 17 and sometimes 17-year-olds will do something stupid like premarital sex. It doesn’t necessarily mean her parents are bad parents. The teenager and her boyfriend are getting married now and I hope they will turn things around and have a good life together. I don’t think we ought to throw stones.
