I'm so tired of the sanctimonious crap that appears here. The young women made a mistake. However she is not compounding it by committing a much more serious act. As to that certain segment of the republican base that will not vote for Palin because her teenage daughter got pregnant I can only say they live in an alternative universe. Bravo!!!!
As the mother of an 18 year old son, who has been dating his girlfriend for more than a year, I think about this every single month! I know we raised him right, with our values, but once they fall in love their hormones tend to take over their brains. I am not naive, yet I hope and pray every day that he establishes himself in life, gets married, and then has a baby. If that day does come, however, I will handle it in the same ways that the Palins are handling this true gift from God. And anyone that would handle it any different are the ones that need to look very deeply into their souls about what a true family really is.

Exactly. Republicans have to be über-perfect.
Democrats, not so much.

VP Gov Palin an awesome choice !
The grand baby will be showered with love, but Bristol will be facing a rough go, I pray she has enough grit to rise above it.

Palin might lose votes among the small minority of folks who believe in
"honor killing."Other than that,
plenty of people of all political and religious persuasions and of all ethnic groups have had a "surprise" pregnancy in their families.

Another web site, researcher said age of consent in Alaska is 16. No issues here.
Anybody who knows Alaskans, though, know that they are incredibly libertarian, too... I don’t think Alaskans will have any reaction other than, “Yeah? So?”

This does absolutely nothing positive for McCain's campaign. NOTHING! His chances of winning have taken a huge hit. Just watch.

I LOVE SARAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My prayer is that she will become President in 2012, if not sooner. It would have probably been better if this did not happen, but it does not change my feelings for Sarah one bit!!!

It was *because* he was black that Stanley Ann Dunham got pregnant by him. She was enchanted with the idea of the transcendent black man. Stanley did not fall in love with Obama Sr as an individual, but as a classic example of a *racial* stereotype she had imagined.
It was puppy love for a race, Obama Sr's intelligence, bearing and smooth deep-voiced oratory representing to her the pinnacle of the black African race.

Almost every teenage girl Ive ever known to get pregnant got pregnant on one form of birth control or another. Today's low dose birth control methodologies frequently fail with healthy young women...many causes, including antibiotics, front ending loading, a half a dozen others. Doctors don't spend any time talking about it. Birth control methodologies are imperfect. Offering birth control to a teenage or twenties girl as guaranteed is completely bogus. The emphasis needs to be on personal responsbility just as you say.

No, I am not. I am not saying anything about what she should do. The discussion I was participating in was about what voters would think about this. Abortion and “keeping” seemed to be the only options discussed. I merely pointed out a political reality, about which I could, of course, be wrong.

The good news is that this pregnant daughter revelation appears to be helping to solidify the PUMA vote. Wow! They really hate NObama and are enthusiastically behind McCain/Palin! It's also interesting to see how they hate the media for lying about Sarah's pregnancy with Trig.

We should bring back chaperoning./s If you've listened much to Dr. Laura, that's exactly what she advocates and she has a huge audience. Whacky? Yes, but they're "ours".

Please give it a rest, Your a McCain hater too and you may also may be a poster called Pissant !
My dislike for McCain is no secret. If you have the intelligence to look back through previous FR posts, check out what I had to say about McCain during the primary season.
But wise up son, I'm voting for the GOP ticket, and that's McCain/Palin, because the alternative is Obama in the White House, and I will not do that to my Country.
As for me being 'Pissant'?
You have just revealed yourself as an ignorant oaf.
The mods can see every IP address that comes into FR and they frown highly on anyone doubling up on screen names.
You need to 'give it a rest' and quit embarrassing yourself, ok?
[Hey Pissant! You hear that? You're me, and I'm you! LOL]

Two friends of mine married their pregnant girlfriends at age 18 and they are still married, both for 40+ years. So don’t say that “The marriage won’t last. they are too young.”
