I am amaze by this. People are so afraid of Obama they will excuse anything. I had a hard time with McCain because of his disrespect of Viet Nam Vets and his terrible judgement,(I decided to vote for him anyway when he first named Palin) but for all these people to think teen pregnancy is a good thing or parents are not responsible for their kids behavior is really pathetic.

Based on the reaction of McCain supporters I think I will go back and write in the black guy - a true conservative - Thomas Sowell.

Teen pregnancy in itself is not a social problem. Teen pregnancy among teenagers who have no family to support them because Daddy left a long time ago and the state has been unsuccessfully trying to fill his role is a problem. Pregnancy at any age is a problem among women and girls who see it as just another way to collect welfare.

A teenager with a steady boyfriend who gets carried away and finds herself pregnant, is loved and supported by her family and her baby’s father, is going to have the baby and marry the father...I fail to see the problem. Maybe she did things outside of the ideal sequence, but this is hardly a new or shocking thing.

Incidentally, I once read an analysis of birth and marriage registrations in colonial America - Massachusetts, I think it was, during the time of the Pilgrims - that revealed that a large number and perhaps even the majority of women were already pregnant when they married.

No, I just see the results of teen pregnancy. I have a sister-in-law who was 15 when she got pregnant. She married the dad. She has been married 3 times, and has 6 kids. She’s been on welfare. Her oldest child has been in and out of jail (I don’t know his status currently). One of her daughters has many children out of wedlock and is in her early 20s.

Teen pregnancy should not be embraced and celebrated. It is a very difficult situation.

Now, do I think we all make mistakes. Yes. I’ve made and make a lot of them. However, they are mistakes. Do we still love and support anyone who makes a mistake? Of course.

The Pill is absolutely an abortifacient. It's right there on the package insert. So are IUDs, Norplant, and Depo Provera.

Not to mention the myriad proven and unknown health risks of giving girls and women huge doses of artificial hormones continuously over several years.

I am sure she did as did all of the conservative parents of my peers. However, her daughter made a bad impulsive decision - similar to the ones made by many of my peers. It is sad, but she determined to grow up and do the right by getting married and keeping the baby. You may not have gotten pregnant out of wedlock but I am sure that you have made other bad decisions in your life. Having a baby out of wedlock and then choosing to do the responsible thing and get married is no worse than those other sins. I know in my life that I have done a few things that I regret. However, I don’t believe that my parents are responsible for my failures - there is only so much that parent can do.

Ya Jveritas I know we are all hypocrites in some way or another, but the lack of compassion by a couple of posters here seems to lend credence to some of the “conservative Christian” stereotypes; uncaring, condemning, selfish etc.

The girl was wrong to have sex with her boyfriend but it is a done deal. Throwing rocks will not change it. We should show the love that Christ would show the family.

As for myself, it changes nothing. It’s tough that her daughter got pregnant so young (assuming this was unexpected), but it happens. I’ll still back McCain/Palin on Election Day.

We don’t accept teen pregnancy. However, a parent can only do so much - kids make their own choices. Also, once a kid has made a terrible mistake but then grows up and decides to do the right thing by keeping the child and getting married, it would be wrong to ostracise them. People make mistakes and raking them over the coals after they choose to be responsible is counter productive and cruel.

I can tell you straight out that I am not a Romneybot. Romney's another RINO just like the rest of them.

I am happy to undermine liberal GOP candidates and RINOs. However, I generally stand behind conservative GOP candidates, unless they massively screw up.

Don’t you realize that this is wonderful for McCain. The dims immediately went to dig up dirt on Sarah Palin. When they couldn’t find any, they manufactured it... abusing her child? Mothers in this country are FURIOUS. Now they are proud of Palin for coming forward with this news proving the Dims to be hatemongers.

They are watching the Republicans closely to see how they handle this latest news. Are they sexist, bigots that would turn their back on Palin and her daughter? Or are they caring, loving people that support family?

The dims lost this elections themselves. Unfortunately, the incredibly ignorant among us are losing this advantage. Hopefully they will see this is a small majority of morons with a severe case of sour grapes.

The only mistake McCain made was in underestimating the hatefulness and small-mindedness of the bots in his own party. He was spot on knowing what the dims would do.

McCain already made the call. He knew the die was cast when he selected Palin.

The Palin family should have announced this news to the world last week. Then the political decisions could have been made in an open and honest manner. Too late to do anything about this now. But McCain loses credibility in my eyes for operating in such a low-handed manner.
