ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

I would like to have $1.00 for each pregnancy out of wedlock in the world.
Like I said. We know what you and Rabbscuttle think
I don’t see how the Ds can successfully use this against McCain/Palin, and I don’t agree that there is any significant (or even marginal) group of GOPers who are going to sit this out or vote Obama because of this.
What would the MSM/D contingent say? The most potent accusation would be the already-broached Michellobama claim that a person who can’t run her own house can’t run the white house. It was a stupid claim against Hillary and clearly backfired, and it is a stupid claim now. Even so, controlling one’s husband is a world away from controlling one’s kids. So that’s it; a lame response with no traction.
Secondly, the MSM/D contingent will trot out the inapposite claims about abstinence education. Given that no one knows and, hopefully won’t have to know whether Bristol used contraceptives or not, this is a non-starter. In other words, the claim could be just the opposite; that while abstinence education is not always effective, absintinence is 100% of the time. Contraceptives are not. Again, a futile attack.
As for the claim that the right will now eat its own young, so to speak, there isn’t a shred of evidence here or on any other conservative blog. The only negative reaction from conservatives have been from the same persons who didn’t like the Palin pick in the first place and whose response has been political rather than moral outrage. Yet the great fear that McCain has blown it is entirely dependent upon the premature belief that the Ds can use this to advantage. The Ds cannot use this at all, frankly, lest they are willing to kiss at least 25% of the Hillary vote goodbye, as the Hillary blogs are almost unanimous in pointing out (so far).
That leaves criticism of the timing of the announcement—a miniscule issue if any. Palin was announced the Friday of a long holiday weekend. McCain/Palin announces the news within three days, after 72 hours of the most vile, unprecedented, and vicious attacks—possibly in US political history—and does so in a masterful way that turned the tables on the boy-geniuses at Kos and DU. Sounds to me that the roaches at DU and Kos provided McCain/Palin with an absolutely perfect avenue with which to announce the news.
As a political watcher, I won’t go so far as to say this is great news, but I fail to see any evidence or rationale as to why this is bad other than that it is a distraction. Even then, look at how the Clintons, for all their faults, turned what they thought was a distraction (philandering) into a powerful political asset. McCain/Palin can and already have done that here.
Palin is a miracle for the party and the Country; it’s probably only due to the lingering sexism in the GOP that she wasn’t already a national figure before Friday. She will be the first female president, mark my words.
Ronald Reagans's son Ronald Jr. is a self-proclaimed atheist.
Ronald Reagan was a great president who won two elections by wide margins. Botttom line, enough people with good "judgement" voted for him.
I don’t think Sarah “admitted” it, as the title indicates. I believe she STATED it.
Disagree if you wish. But don’t call a freeper, almost ten years your senior, here, a troll. This from a newbie.
I posted that before she issued the statement.
And that baby, Patti...did embarrassing things to her father & mother all the time, just for the sheer embarrassment of it all!
As for me personally, I still find Ron Reagan terribly embarrassing.
Calm down. Nobody is saying we deserve Obama.
Unwad your knickers.
But as you fall all over yourself in excusing what McCain/Palin did....
As you point out that we all make mistakes....
Remember all these lines were used by democrats as they defended Clinton for all the sexual sins he committed.
And more recently as FReepers blasted away at Edwards?? Where was the love? Where was the compassion we are now showing little Miss Palin?
That is despicable. Her son joined the Army out of high school and is being deployed to Iraq. Some of you should read before opening your mouths.
How do you know that was not a lesson taught by the Palin's to their daughter? Guess what - kids will still commit guilty of sin. It's life. What they do now is the most important thing.
You mean Web Hubbell's bloodline, don't you?
To: biscuit jane; Reagan Man; pissant
Reagan Man and pissant may be a lot of things:
Opinionated and wrong in this case for starters....
But there is one thing they are not....trolls.
Go bake me a biscuit Jane, Im hungry.”
Ha ha ! Okay I’ll take your word for it. Some folks seem trollish because many of their posts are antagonistic.
Sure I’ll bake you a biscuit - want steak and gravy with that ?
Is there something in the Bible that condemns teen pregnancy? Is there a conservative manual that says that teen pregnancy is evil?????????
Dudette, Xenalyte is most definitely not a troll nor mentally deranged.
I’m not even sure I agree with her on this topic, but that’s a really out-there assertion.
Based on the negative responses to your amateurish armchair political strategies, I’d say you were projecting.
So far, Sarah’s family life is a great example of how to handle life, ...

BINGO! I think this is going to be the lasting impression.
She was wearing a ring on Friday. Why didn’t they say anything about this earlier. Doesn’t sound like they were very proud or supportive of the situation.
It was covered up, face it. We just found out today.
Palin should have told McCain - thanks but no thanks, got more important things to attend to.
Xena has been here longer than you. She is just opinionated.
Xena is no troll.
