ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Wow. So now upholding the standards I thought we as a party adhered to is laughable.
Good to know, PB. Thanks for enlightening me.
QED.
Maybe it isn’t ideal to be pregnant out of wedlock, but again, pregnancy is not a crime and no one should compare it to criminal acts.
“It really is a private family matter.”’
You have got to be kidding. Teen pregnancy is a huge social problem. It has to be unacceptable.
If this was a lib’s kid people around here would have a much different opinion.
So does that make the family values wrong because her daughter chose not to follow them? I think this situation exposes a big problem in the U.S. today. Everyone seems to be looking for the perfect person to lead us all. That person does not exist on earth today. We need to choose the person (or in this case, ticket) that is driven by the right set of values. A lot of this goes back to the ever increasing power of the federal govt. In this case, what the daughter did is morally wrong, but it sounds like she is not compounding it with more wrongs. I think that shows great parenting.
Don’t know what your problem is, bucko. I still like her.
I simply wanted to see how she handled it. So far, so good.
Sure sin is wrong and MANY people on this thread agree with that premise. But what's done is done - and Bristol and the father of her baby have to now live their lives knowing that a newborn baby will be part of it.
There's certainly no evidence that the Palin family has not embraced the command to "Go and sin no more" in regards to this issue.
My take on this politically is that Sarah will zestfully continue campaigning. Over the weeks, the force of her personality, her appeal, her down-to-earthiness, her grasp of world and domestic problems, her knowledge, her quick takes, her intelligence, her conservatism, her enthusiasm, her common sense, her inner and outer beauty, her wit, her charm, her decisiveness, her political savvy, her business acumen and her ability to shoot straight in several ways will overcome the gossip and scandal-mongering and the negatives will begin to peter out till little of them remain.
This lady is Alaska-tough!
(.....did I leave out anything in the attributes I perceive in her, LOL?)

I understand your standpoint, and I must have misunderstood your stance. I’m just looking at it at from a point of: a pregnancy does not indicate that we are a bad person. As a woman, I am certain, that as soon as Bristol’s baby is born, she will be so glad to hold her little baby in her arms. Not wanting to change a thing. It won’t matter how he was conceived, it will be her precious baby. And she will know how to care for a baby, watching it being done in her own family. I have complete confidence that she will be a wonderful mother, just as her own mother seems to be.
Scarlet letters are not the answer.
Another person using the discredited term “caucasian.” What’s wrong with “white?” ;-)
So, sounds like you’re saying that President Reagan should have never run for office...after all, wasn’t one of his children rumored to be gay not to mention a wacko left winger...
From a political aspect, of course.
I didn’t vote for a VP in the primary. I don’t think Texas lets us do that.
But my presidential pick - which is NOT fodder for this thread - was Ron Paul, who’s married to his high school sweetheart and as far as I know has no out-of-wedlock grandchildren.
Palin should have let McCain know. Since he is so out of touch and he is bringing the other woman to the White House if he wins, he might not care.
I couldn't open the link to the full story. The Dems must be doubling over with laughter.
Its not the evangelicals who are getting mad. We understand that even the best people can have children who make mistakes.

Sad but true.
If you think I am part of the “majority of posters” ...
For your info, I do NOT think Teen pregnancy is OK.
Teen abortion, though, is worse.
THAT would have been a worse flub-up for McCain/Palin - by far.
Take that up with HollyB. I was merely answering her post, which posited the comparison in the first place.
Celebrated my 20th Anniversary this year, and still married to my best friend in the whole world, Thank you very much!
