All I see are a couple of unsubstantiated puff pieces from the liberal press trying to shove a liberal VP choice down our throats because they know he’ll aid an Obama win in November. Is that what you want ?

Like I said, trying to label him as a liberal was tried and not successful.

Take it up with Rush Limbaugh, apparently according to you, a member of the liberal press.

I personally don’t think he will be the pick but had fun at the expense of a hysterical freeper last night...it was all a big gag to see some of those irrational fears come out.

Why do you hate Mormons so much? Oh...now I just had a thought — correct me if I am wrong but I have never seen you post any anti-Harry Reid stuff. Could it be you are using the anti-Mormon thing to take a poke at Republicans?

I’ll bet Romney learned that scripture from the New Testament when he was 5 and in LDS sunday school.

Then we all agree on Eric Cantor

:)

I like the others too..

I wish the VP was Hunter, but I’m told 26 years in public service means he is an “unknown”

I'll preface this by saying you're arguing with a political historian, Padre.

"LBJ was 43 years ago. Obviously, that’s an extremely rare event."

45, and rare events don't mean unique events. The choice this year is crucial because the likelihood of McCain surviving the highest-stress job in the world for 4 years at his age and with his health problems (and considering he is older than his father was when he died of natural causes) is less than 50%.

"The VP doesn’t automatically succeed the president. He has to prevail in the primary and then the general election."

I'm aware how the process works. Unless a VP expressly declares they will NOT run, they aren't likely to lose a primary nomination. The Quayle example didn't apply because he was no longer VP and he wasn't a serious candidate.

"Romney has claimed a conversion to pro-life."

He can claim to have three eyes, it doesn't mean it's so. I've known him 14 years and he will breathlessly and shamelessly lie to a crowd telling them what he believes and what is so. I thought it was cute when he did it with Democrats. I stopped thinking it was cute when he pulled that same schtick with Republicans. His conversion is as believable as a Bill Clinton promise.

"McCain is solidly pro-life. Romney’s new-found beliefs could be solidified under a pro-life president."

But since they're not...

"Also, pro-life actually aligns with his religious beliefs, so it is a coming home for him."

But since he's lying (like he's done with everything else he has ever "stood for")...

"However, FMJ, and you, too, TNana, there is nothing illogical, immoral, or unethical in your concerns. You have every right to be concerned; and you have every right to voice your concerns."

It is important to note we're not pulling this stuff out of thin air, which I'll explain in a moment...

"I am willing to give Romney a chance, and you are not willing to take a risk like that. Your position is honorable."

6 years ago, I too gave this individual a chance, still knowing his disreputable flipflops, in supporting him for Governor. I fortified myself on the schtick that he "saved the Olympics" (from what ? Godzilla ?) and thought maybe THIS time he was telling the truth that he'd save the MA GOP and turn the state around. I watched him for 4 years and I saw what he did. He lied his way into office and he destroyed everything he touched and then he went running off to seek promotion. He's been given a chance, and he failed, and willfully so. I find it astonishing and without any sense or logic that those championing his cause DENY and refuse to look at his record, as if everything he destroyed in his care is suddenly just not going to happen while as VP or President. I'm sorry, but that's just subscribing to a lie and aiding a liar. If you realize why I, TN Nana, and others spend many hours a day, for over a year, raising awareness of this man and why he can NEVER be permitted anywhere near the reins of power, it's the facts above that are why. We believe on the substance of the facts that he will cripple the national GOP, the Conservative movement, and just about everything we care about. We know he employs paid agents on this website and the internet designed to discredit and silence his opponents because they endanger this phony "persona" he has endeavored to create. We know he has utilized payoffs to individuals in the Conservative movement to gain said credibility because he couldn't earn it with his deeds and accomplishments. That's why we regard him as very dangerous.

"That really makes Cantor of Virginia a good compromise candidate for the 3 of us. He is a lifelong, strongly conservative Virginia congressman. He could solidify Virginia for John McCain. I also like Jindal, Palin, Santorum, Hunter, Thompson, and Pence."

I don't have anything against Cantor. But we should look at our best and brightest Conservative Governors in the country. Mark Sanford of South Carolina. Don Carcieri of Rhode Island. Haley Barbour of Mississippi. Unifying individuals that bring a wealth of accomplishments to the table. The notion that people like Slick Willard, one of the worst Governors in the nation of the past decade to claim an "R" designation, is remotely viable absolutely defies the imagination.

"Like I said, trying to label him as a liberal was tried and not successful."

What are you smoking ? He is a liberal. This attempt to whitewash his record has been THOROUGHLY debunked.

"Take it up with Rush Limbaugh, apparently according to you, a member of the liberal press."

Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. From an entertainment perspective, he's better off having liberals like Obama/Slick Willard in power to build ratings for his show and something to rant against. A Conservative President gives him little material.

Great post! I agree 100%. Barbour or Sanford would be excellent choices. Good administrators and solid Conservatives.

Was Reagan a Fraud? A conservative?

He left the whitehouse with budget deficits 10 times bigger.

Was Tip O’Neal and his Democrat congress a problem?
Maybe Romney had the same problem in Homochusetts?

No and No, Reagan was a closet Liberal. Romney is a liberal as well. Satisfied?

Fair and Decent and Politics - all in the same sentence!

2 Republican sources say McCain has apparently settled on Romney as his pick, but no offer has been made.

100,000-2 Republican sources say McCain has rejected on Romney as his pick, but no other name has as much love among LDS Organization members.

Huckleberry = Doesn’t deserve it after attacks on Mormonism

Oh??

Well MORMONs still ATTACK Christians!!

They have NOT recalled, rejected, reputiated or otherwise said, "We're sorry" for their founders begining salvo across the bow of the Great Ship.

http://scriptures.lds.org/en/js_h/1/19#19
17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)—and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.”
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself lying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother,
“I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.”

Yeah, can you imagine so quickly putting Paul in charge of the Christians after he persecuted them and watched Stephen be killed?

Weren't those early Christians careless over the flock?

Oops. Another bad example by the offspring of a too closely-consanguineous marriage?
