Strickland Says Obama Lacks Substance on Economy Sunday, August 17, 2008 COLUMBUS - Just days after lowering expectations on his ability to deliver Ohio for Barack Obama, Gov. Ted Strickland renewed criticism today over the lack of substance coming from his party's presumptive nominee.

"I particularly hope he strengthens his economic message - even Senator Obama can speak more clearly and specifically about the kitchen-table, bread-and-butter issues like high energy costs," said Gov. Ted Strickland of Ohio. "It's fine to tell people about hope and change, but you have to have plenty of concrete, pragmatic ideas that bring hope and change to life."

Sounds like the choirs of angels are off key in Ohio with less than 100 days to go. We can only there is more of this to come.

“Substance” is the politically correct term for “gray matter.”

Since McCain is going to announce his VP choice in Ohio on his birthday, maybe Gov. Strickland will be his running mate choice since Strickland doesn’t like Obama.

Ohio is a must win for him. Take Ohio out of the Dem column and the formula for their success is course-level mathematics that the hollow one never achieved.

Actually, Strickland emphatically said he would NOT be Obama’s VP.

I read that Gov. Strickland signed some major piece of legislation in Ohio that expands gun rights in the state. Even though he is pro-abortion, how does he stand on other issues? Is he more middle-of-the-road or is he another flaming liberal?

Sure would be interesting if Hillary received the majority vote at the convention.

I hear Pakistan needs a President and Obama Hussein is even a crypto-muslim, sounds like a match made in hell.

I think Strickland knows the writing is on the wall. Obama is going to be a very hard sell in Ohio. The untold story in Ohio is the latest polls show him only getting 80% of the black vote. Now that is a problem for him. He is also not getting the older white woman vote. He is under performing and it is likely to get worse in the long run regardless of what he does at the convention. I don’t like to count chickens before they hatch but this is starting to have the feeling of a landslide for McCain. Republicans have historically closed well picking up the bulk of late deciders. If Obama does see a huge boost coming out of his convention he is going to have a huge problem.

Sure would be interesting if just after Obama irrevocably committed to the idea of having her name put into nomination - a bomb (with her fingerprints all over it) drops on Obama’s reputation, leaving pragmatic Democrats only one place to turn. Then, Hillary gets to walk to the podium like the surprise audience member who Johnny Olsen calls to “Come on down!”
