After delivering a campaign speech, Sen. Barack Obama's first stop on his Hawaii vacation was a visit to his grandmother's Makiki apartment, where he also lived during his youth. Obama -- escorted by Secret Service and accompanied by a few campaign staff and a pool of reporters and camera crews -- arrived at about 4:10 p.m. yesterday and spent an hour with his 85-year-old maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who helped raise him. He was not accompanied by his wife, Michelle, and two daughters.

I don’t get this - an hour and wife and kids are absent. If her place is a problem, I bet he has a nice suite in a nice hotel and grandmother can be brought there to spend some real time with the family for the vacation week.
He did say they needed to see her....an hour, with press and campaign personnel.
I concur with those who think something is very odd.
Is he embarrassed by his other than black grandmother and doesn't want his wife and children to meet her?

He's meeting with her, most likely to encourage her to keep quiet about the real Obama. He doesn't’ want her dispelling all his lies. Buttering her up?
My guess is they aren’t very close. If Barry says she is the typical white person, it probably means she wasn’t too thrilled when he went on to identify himself as black vs. white during a pretty militant era for blacks. I doubt he wanted much to do with her then, or now.

This could have been a grand photo op to show how INCLUSIVVE he is towards his WHITE Grandma and how his family loves white folks too. All this secrecy makes me very suspicious. I hope nothing happens to Grandma ....
Me thinks that the Obomination wants us to live like his family in Africa while he lives in the plantation house.
So he wanted his girls to meet and spend time with their grandmother, and now decides to see her by himself.

You are right on the “strange dude” thingy though. Just read a little about him and its obvious.
Another thought, if he wins the election, he will be the first president from Kenya or Indonisia or where ever he is from.

If nothing else, I think it makes him look like an ungrateful turd. He and his family may very well be the only living relatives the woman has.
