and accompanied by a few campaign staff and a pool of reporters and camera crews -- arrived at about 4:10 p.m. yesterday and spent an hour with his 85-year-old maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who helped raise him. He was not accompanied by his wife, Michelle, and two daughters.

This is very strange.

EXACTLY!

Who brings campaign staff to see his grandmother, but not his wife & kids? Who would bring ANY campaign staff to see his grandmother, who supposedly is so frail that she can’t go out in public anymore?

This ranks right up with Edwards, “My affair ended in 2006 and I just happened to go to her hotel room after midnight in 2008” for not passing the smell test.

If McCain behaved this way, the press would be all over him.
