John McCain said Friday that the Supreme Court ruling on Guantanamo Bay detainees is one of the worst decisions in the history of this country. The presumptive GOP nominee said the decision, a 5-4 ruling Thursday that determined Guantanamo detainees have the right to seek release in civilian courts, would lead to a wave of frivolous challenges. We are now going to have the courts flooded with so-called
habeas corpus suits against the government, whether it be about the diet, whether it be about the reading material. And we are going to be bollixed up in a way that is terribly unfortunate because we need to go ahead and adjudicate these cases, he said at a town hall meeting in New Jersey. McCain said he has worked hard to ensure the U.S. military does not torture prisoners but that the detainees at Guantanamo are still enemy combatants. These are people who are not citizens. They do not and never have been given the rights that citizens in this country have, he said. Now, my friends, there are some bad people down there. There are some bad people. Barack Obama released a statement Thursday saying the Supreme Court decision ensures that we can protect our nation and bring terrorists to justice while also protecting our core values. The Courts decision is a rejection of the Bush administrations attempt to create a legal black hole at Guantanamo - yet another failed policy supported by John McCain, he said. This is an important step toward re-establishing our credibility as a nation committed to the rule of law and rejecting a false choice between fighting terrorism and respecting habeas corpus.

Which brings us to the main point: you could only like this suite of Presidential candidates that we currently have if you actively hate this country.
“I am 100% sure that in CONUS, unless you are subject to UCMJ (our troops), you get all the to file a Writ of Habeas Corpus.”
The legislation that I had cited, S.3930, [provides military commissions the jurisdiction to try any offense made punishable by this chapter (articles 904 and 906 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice) or the law of war by an alien unlawful enemy before, on, or after September 11, 2001.]
You keep making claims like ‘McCain is too stupid to know this...The really amazing thing is I dont think McCain and some posters get it. Stupid.’ Yet you don’t even appear to be familiar with this legislation that contradicts your claims.
Hey, everyone, do you agree with John McCain on this one? I do.
I think it was a huge mistake.
Wonder how this decision will relate to illegal aliens.
Look at post # 100 as shining examples of what they refuse to see. Maybe it's their defensive mechanism kicking in so they can't see just what kind of a person they support. Perhaps they suffer from the Stockholm syndrome. And it's even worse if they do see and still vote for him.
There is nothing this side of heaven that would make me change my mind and vote for Mcpain - nothing.
Right. As if that wasn't clarified in the videos.
The same level of intellectual honesty too. None.
I don't know what they are so eager to convert those of us who don't fall in line to vote for Mcpain, me and my little voting block of at least 12 won't make an iota of difference in this election.
I won't sell out my beliefs to put Mcpain in office.
Is that the only thing you saw in this post?
Actually I think people like you who are so rabidly against the anti Obama candidate may be sleeper trolls.
Apparently you can't find the abuse button on your own. Some people were just born for a nanny state.
Well I can predict the weather too if I look out the window. lol They have a very short list of rebuttal points.
Now, if you put that together with their latest ruling - what do we have?
I agree 100%. I just don't know what to make of them anymore. I feel like just patting them on top of their heads then send them on their way.
Thank you for the information. No, I’m not going to dump McCain but I do need to know as much as I can. :)
Let’s see how the Administration handles this. I know (hope) they won’t obstruct justice, but maybe they have some angles.
I think that’s about the best thing to do. I’m sure it’s a traumatic stress reaction on their part so it’s hard to be very angry about it. When it comes to the WH we are glued and tattooed come next January. It’s not the end of the world but it’s a tough pill to swallow.
You make good points, and provide context for this very strong individual statement that appears to be inconsistent with McCain’s stance on other related issues.
Bingo!
I totally agree. Thanks Czar.
As many have said, no matter which one of them win - we lose.
It is a very tough pill to swallow.
"I certainly appreciate one of the nation's three co-equal branches of government, the Supreme Court, weighing in on this important issue. However, as Commander-in-Chief I am responsible for the safety of all American citizens and I respectfully disagree with today's 5 - 4 ruling. Therefore, under my watch non-citizen enemy combatants will not be given access to the American civilian court system. Thank you."
LOL, just kidding!
(Yeah, right! - - Like Bush has a spine!)
The question is: Does McCain have a spine?
I think I already know the answer....
