A possible tornado has struck the Litle (spelling from site?) Sioux Scout Camp in Iowa. Very large response is being reported by media. Large number of injuries.
Thanks for the ping, Mr. Silverback.
Definitely, prayers go up for these young people and their families....for them to be safe...
God rest the souls of the ones who have perished.
Thanks for your knowledge. This is just so heart wrenching to hear and watch.
Have just sent a prayer for those involved.
May your scouts have a great time and a safe one, too.

Tom, get your daughter home now. Her boss won’t fault her for leaving.
I am a Scout Leader (Cubmaster) and I really feel impacted by this. It seems other Scouters are chiming in and probably feel the same way - we can identify with those boys and their adult leaders. It is often a thankless job - but rewarding more than I can express.
25-35 children injured being reported now - have no idea if this is the extent of the injuries. Parents are asked to go to the Neely Center in Sioux City.
Inteviewing adult staffer - no sirens, the ranger “Nathan” was keeping in radio contact, watching lightening and then saw the funnel cloud forming and went to hit the alarm on the building. Said he took a kid to a shelter and it hit so he jumped into a ditch. Saying kids were “not alive but dead”. This poor guy sounds like he is in a lot of shock right now...
Prayers up!
Staffer reported that the fireplace collapsed on the children that died. Said the building was being thrown around like crazy. Said they “didn’t have a chance”.
Well...it is appreciated by most Freepers I am sure. You teach those boys lessons in charcater, morals, self reliance and survival that will last a lifetime.
Be Proud!
Thanks, Dubya.
Let me also offer up a prayer here for the helo drivers and flight nurses who are operating in there tonight. Tough and dangerous duty. Lord, please make them wise, brave and guide their hands tonight.
Where are you getting this info from?
I’m a Cubmaster too...God bless you.
You too Scouter! I am going to call for a moment of silence at our Pack Committee Meeting on Friday. We will discuss adding more weather safety to our program.
Prayers for all concerned. Oh, this is so terrible. Dear Lord, please help the survivors to cope. In Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.
I found a map showing the lightning strikes in the area -
http://www.strikestarus.com/index.aspx?id=34
So far, it has recorded 15,610 lightning strikes from the storms today.
I lift these brave Boy Scouts up in prayer with you.
God of storms, guide them through
and lead them to the Light to You...
Mr G is a Cubmaster for our grandson’s troop. I have been praying since I caught this thread at the start.
Thank you for what you do. I know how hard it can be, and how important it is. The lessons you teach are what these youngsters are relying on right this minute. God Bless you, and these boys.
