Sen. Hillary Clinton will drop out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination Friday, The Post has learned.
Her decision ends speculation about what she would do after Sen. Barack Obama captured the nomination yesterday.
Last night, a defiant Clinton conceded nothing to Obama.
In a speech at Baruch College, Clinton said she needed time to consider her next move.
Clinton ran down the list of every state she has won, trumpeted the nearly 18 million people who voted for her in this year's contests and demanded that her supporters be given "respect."
Clinton also said she had won the "swing states" needed to get the 270 electoral votes to capture the White House, as her supporters broke into chants of, "Yes, we will!" - a dig on Obama's slogan, "Yes we can!"
But today party leaders began calling for Clinton to drop out, hoping that such a move would encourage party unity.
"I don't see why we don't get on with it and endorse [Obama]," said Rep. Charles Rangel, a Clinton supporter. He said it was only a matter of time before he and other Clinton supporters formally back Barack.

Yes, I didn’t see why it was necessary to go to “inside sources” when the identities of the uncommitted superdelegates were known to the press all along. If the uncommitted SD’s were going to announce for Obama, why didn’t they say that rather than quote “inside sources” saying that Hillary was going to drop out for the past few days?
Ding Dong the witch is dead!!!
And I wonder what pant suit she'll wear when she sings.
The thing for Hillary to remember is that Obama's people are not going to accept her as VP.
She has way too much baggage, and Bill would be running the entire show anyway.
There is no way Bill Clinton would let Obama do anything without his interference.
He has 8 years of Presidential experience over both Hillary and Obama.
The other delicious bit is that Obama's wife hates Hillary.
The White House would be a violent and bitter circus with the Obama and Clinton people in there.

Sociopath.
Breaking on Countdown: Hillary's top campaign strategists begged Senators to push Hillary out
Bombshell revelation. Howard Fineman reporting that 8 senators who were Hillary supporters were gathered by phone by Hillary's top campaign strategists to convince her to concede the nomination. Wow!
Wow, indeed. Maybe Lieberman was one of them, that's why Obama was roughing him up on the Senate floor!
Yes. Absolutely. And releas it at the last possible moment so Hussein can't didge the bullet.
Now, if only she will resign from the senate and go find a cave to retire to....
I guess if the Clintons are finally gone, I can delete the 275 Clinton cartoons, parodies and “caption this” photos off my hard drive.
“If this is true, Im guessing there IS no Michelle Obama tape.”
That was an unsubstantiated rumor all along, from what I gather.
This sounds like more wishful thinking on the part of the DNC and Obama’s supporters in the media... I’ll believe it when she says the words herself, and not before. I wonder if these are the same sources - her supposed “advisors” - that are putting forward these things.
From some of the quotes, it just sounds like more and more pressure being applied, and not that these decisions are coming from Clinton herself...
I’m guessing that if it exists at all it’s in a vault at WLS (ABC) Ch. 7 Chicago. And, I doubt it’ll ever see the light of day if that’s the case. If anyone would know exactly what Michelle said, it would be their two reporters: Cheryl Burton and Karen Jordan who were there.
Dennis Miller says that Barry cannot pick Mrs. Clinton because nobody would vote for him because they’d think he was clinically insane.
The DNC, and Obama’s supporters in the media are really getting freaked out. I honestly don’t think Hillary has any intention of dropping out. All these articles the last few days name their sources as “unnamed aides” or anonymous sources.
What’s depressing and confusing to me is that so many here are so quick to assume that what they are reporting about her is the truth just because she is who she is, and because of their hatred for her. I thought we all were informed enough to realize that you have to second-guess EVERYTHING reported by the MSM - especially when it comes to politics. They are doing everything they can to influence this election. And, as soon as Hillary is out of the picture - their wrath will turn against McCain.
Even though it’s Hillary we should be demanding truth from the presses - not their wishful thinking and political operative fantasies.
