White Women Take the Gloves Off
real clear politics ^

The woman who shouted "McCain in '08" at the Democratic rules committee was speaking for a multitude. After mounting for months, female anger over the choreographed dumping on Hillary Clinton and her supporters has exploded -- and party loyalty be damned. That the women are beginning to have a good time is an especially bad sign for Barack Obama's campaign. "Obama will NOT get my vote, and one step more," Ellen Thorp, a 59-year-old flight attendant from Houston told me. "I have been a Democrat for 38 years. As of today, I am registering as an independent. Yee Haw!" A new Pew Research Center poll points to a surging tide of fury, especially among white women. As recently as April, this group preferred Obama over the presumptive Republican John McCain by three percentage points. By May, McCain enjoyed an eight-point lead among white women. .

It’s the election that will be decided by which party despises their nominee the least.

It will be difficult for the rats to claim that the Republicnas stole the election this time, when it’s a 45 state blow out for McCain.

Their candidate is deeply flawed and even the democrats are starting to see it.

I would expand that to say "their candidates are deeply flawed."

In years past, the white democrats used the black vote to get their majority, even though they didn't enhance the black community as promised. The black community followed blindly, believing their white masters would eventually trickle down some benefits for their support.

Now when the black candidate needs the white democrat support, it disappears. For sure Clinton felt entitled to the nomination.

The black democrats got tired of waiting for their due, and decided to go get their own. Good for them. We may never see the Democratic party the same again.

Everyone has talked of a third party. It may be the black party may arise from all of this, and use their new political power to align with whichever party will give them their due.

There already is a party that exists which is the best for the long term interests of black people, much better than the one they are loyal to now. There are members of this forum who see it, who are also black. There are black men and women in politics who see it but they are all a minority within a minority.

You're right about their anger and disillusionment. Throughout the primary season, I've had a hunch that Hillary feels like the fat girl in the classroom who can't get any attention from the football players. And that frustration is being writ large amongst her supporters.

But when it comes down to it: will any Hillary supporters vote for a pro-life candidate? I really doubt it.

Most Democrats don't perceive McCain as another Democrat. He is perceived as a moderate Republican by some and as just another neo-con by others (McSame they call him). I think a lot of Hillary supporters (male and female alike) are willing to vote for him for a number of reasons. Much of this, in my opinion, is driven by the fact that the Democrats control both houses of congress. McCain isn't nearly so scary when he's checked by Reid and Pelosi. I think we can expect to see millions of Hillary voters either sitting out, writing in, or going so far as to vote for McCain. This will be particularly devastating to Obama in states like Ohio, West Virginia, Missouri, Michigan, New Hampshire, etc; which brings me to my last point, Dick Cheney needs to do some groveling for his little joke about West Virginia. That had to be one of the dumbest thing he's ever said which is saying something given his record of saying dumb things. What the $%&# was he thinking?

So lets make fun of them and their leader so they’ll be less inclined to vote for McCain. It isn’t like we need every vote we can get this year or anything.

These women are delusional as far as claimed differences in the intelligence and qualifications...

I don't think so. While Hillary's educational resume isn't quite as illustrious as that of Obama (who must surely have benefitted from affirmative action), it is plain who wins the IQ contest. That's no delusion. Have you listened to Obama speaking extemporaneously? Did you watch the last debate he was _willing_ to participate in? Even Obamabots concede she is more experienced than he. I'm not speaking to the value of that experience.

As to her accomplishments, they arise from sleeping with a guy on the way up, and at the top of his game. And they are FEW in number

I'm not arguing about Hillary's absolute merits as a presidential candidate. I'm speaking of her perceived relative merits in comparison with Obama.

I think they will. The perceived insult to women inherent in the DNC preference for a lesser qualified male candidate will trump even the abortion issue.

Jean B. Grillo, an "over 50" writer in lower Manhattan, was pretty straightforward: "I am so tired as a white, ultra-liberal, McGovern-voting, civil-rights marching, anti-war fighting highly educated professional woman who totally supports Hillary Clinton to be attacked and vilified as racist and or dumb."

LOL!

I am surprised any woman would vote for McCain seeing as how he dropped his first wife for this money bagged one. Not something to be admired, IMO.

I agree on your strategy summary. The problem is that John McCain is a wild card. Few know what he will do, even himself! He certainly will not wax conservative. He was making soft moaning noises up until two weeks ago about conducting a gentlemanly campaign. He shows good head when he attacks Obama, but needs an affirmative message to compete with "Hope and Change" ( barf), which will allow him to appeal to the masses of undecided voters whose ranks are swollen by the effects of Operation Chaos.

Once McCain has an affirmative , consistent message for the American people, he should rip into Obama's history and utterly discredit him. We have been gathering information here on FR for months, such as in Freeper "Beckwiths" on line "Obama File."

We have the Chaos but do we have a horseman who can ride through it and rally the troops into the Grand Battle of the Fall?

So far we do not.

I’m not trying to convince anyone to ‘not’ vote for McCain, or to for ‘for’ anyone else.

The point I want to stress is that McCain is basically a moderate Democrat, and can’t be trusted to forward conservative positions of any kind. Your trust and faith in this man is unfounded, given his actual performance over the last ten years or so.

You think “he’ll keep this country safe.” Sorry to break it to you, but he wants to close Gitmo and bring all of the detained terrorists to Ft. Leavenworth, which puts them on US soil and give them access (and rights) to US courts. How is that keeping the country safe, when that will surely result in many of these animals getting off on technicalities. You want to see them turn around and become the next 9/11 hijack crew?

For myself, I don’t consider that I have a real choice, therefore McCain does not get my vote. Neither does Obama, or even a 3rd party candidate. My feeling is that we are going to have the fight of our lives on our hands, no matter who is elected this November.

And as far as McCain being Pro-life, do you really think that the Democrat congress is going to send him any legislation that will allow him to affect that issue?

Is yours a paid position or a volunteer job? Relative noob protesting a little too much. Your right though, I don’t like McCain much either, therefore I am going to support the big eared, red, Chicago machine thug with the crazy old lady. It’s the least I can do for you.

Huh? Boy, are you about a million miles off course.

Relative noob protesting a little too much.

For an old timer, I don't ever remember seeing you around here before. Don't post much I suppose.

What's a'matter - don't like me disagreeing with McRino? Sheeesh, read a few threads around here, would ya?

I have no idea what put the burr under your saddle, but you can vote for Obama if you want. It's a free country.
