Biblical Scholars Challenge Pelosi's 'Scripture' Quote
CNSNEWS ^ | April 24, 2008 | Pete Winn

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is fond of quoting a particular passage of Scripture. The quote, however, does not appear in the Bible and is "fictional," according to biblical scholars.

In her April 22 Earth Day news release, Pelosi said, "The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, 'To minister to the needs of God's creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.' On this Earth Day, and every day, let us pledge to our children, and our children's children, that they will have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and the opportunity to experience the wonders of nature."

Cybercast News Service repeatedly queried the speaker's office for two days to determine where the alleged Bible quote is found. Thus far, no one has responded.

Distinguished biblical scholars, however, cast doubt on the existence of the passage.

John J. Collins, the Holmes professor of Old Testament criticism and interpretation at Yale Divinity School, said he is totally unfamiliar with Pelosi's quotation.

The Devil's oldest trick is to slightly misquote the Word of God -— relying on our ignorance.

(It's what the serpent did in the garden -— just added “if you touch it, you won't die.”)

Ah Jeez.

What is it with Democrats? Remember when they tried making up an anti-war Shakespeare quote that wasn't even in iambic pentameter? And now this sad piece of cr*p. They seem to have no idea how to craft a convincing lie.

This “quotation” was probably concocted by the same leftards that provided Baba Streisand with fictitious “Shakespeare” quotations. It’s a real cottage industry for some leftards, to pretend to find source material to support whatever the cause du jour might be.

“She received communion at the Papal Mass in DC”

WTF???

I thought the Pope was saying that catholics that support abortion are excommunicated. Does he mean what he says or not?

No, it says we are to be STEWARDS of the earth: sure we should take care of it, because ultimately it exists for OUR benefit.

It does NOT say we are to SERVE the earth.

If there is a Creator from whom our rights are given, and as the founders stated,

then institutions of man (government) have no power to restrict them.

Conversely - no Creator, no restrictions on institutions of man to restrict rights.

Similar to the left’s misquotes of

Thou shalt not kill ( and therefore may not conduct war )
and
Judge not... ( to justify “anything goes” )

Somehow, the left has it in their twisted little heads that supporting socialism (stealing from some to “give” to others) somehow satisfies the individual requirement to help the poor.

It doesn’t count for diddly. Giving is to be voluntary, individual, and joyful - not compelled.

Nancy is quoting from the new "living" Bible. (See the "living" Constitution).

A legitimate Bible reference will always provide the book, chapter and verse(s). If it doesn't, it's a fraud.

she has learned at the feet of our mainstream denominations who are changing scripture to suit their liberal mind-sets. Then call it being prophetic.

Book of Jedediah, 19:12...

That’s my “patent verse” for anything that I need to make sound important. Make a statement, someone questions it, just say it’s in Jedediah 19:12 and leave it at that. Nine times out of 10 the claim stands, because the other party doesn’t really know the truth about that book...

It is voluntary. They voluntarily take it from you and voluntarily give it to those they deem more worthy than you. The fact its not voluntary on your part is your problem, and proves you are evil and you deserve eternal d___ation for even bringing it up, which no doubt will be your lot, of course.

There is a nominal service fee for the whole transaction, of course, which they keep for themselves. But hey, you have to get the money for those big Congressional pensions from someplace.
