Sen. Clinton strikes bogus healthcare story from campaign talks

A political analyst says Hillary Clinton should have known better than to repeat a bogus story alleging an Ohio hospital denied an uninsured pregnant woman medical care.

During her campaigning, Senator Clinton (D-New York) has made extensive use of a story involving a woman from rural Ohio who was being paid minimum wage working at a local pizza shop. The Democratic presidential hopeful has been telling audiences: "It is so wrong, in this good, great, and rich country, that a young woman and her baby would die because she didn't have health insurance or a hundred dollars to get examined."

But the hospital the woman was treated at says she was never denied care, and Clinton has since pulled the story from her stump speech.

Clemson University political scientist Dave Woodard says an experienced campaigner like Clinton should have checked out the veracity of the story before she went public with it. But the fact that she did not, he argues, "shows a lot about her personality" and about her plans for healthcare reform, should she make it to the Oval Office.

"[I]it also shows something about the calculus she goes through before she makes a decision," the analyst adds. "And that is, if some information comes in, no matter how unreliable but it fits a stereotype she has [of insurance companies and hospitals], she'll go right to it and use it."

As recently as Friday night, Clinton told an audience she was "just aching inside" as she was listening to the Ohio hospital story.

OK. It was really a spaniel chased from a Burger King for mooching french-fries....but America is still so wrong.

It’s not so much that they love being lied to -

they just want their pre-existing worldview to be validated and justified,

and this story of a woman dying because our country doesn’t have “free” health care justifies their greed for free stuff at the expense of others.

It says a lot that with 40 million ‘uninsured’, Hillary can’t come up with one real example of a person being denied care.

I heard some commentator yesterday say about this topic: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't." To them, this was a "good story". Like Rush says, Liberals depend on misery to advance their agenda. Bad news is good news to them.

Have the rest of you heard the radio ads asking for your health care sob stories?

Why don’t all the Liberal doctors just work for free? That would fix the problem!

There was some poll done a couple of weeks ago that said that half of the doctors supported universal healthcare.

Did you hear Rush yesterday? He was talking about the MassASSachusetts healthcare system and how the doctors (resources) are so overwhelmed with people coming in with any little sickness/headache/cold that you can’t get a simple physical for over a year.

Amazing how the laws of economics are as inflexible as the laws of gravity.

Guess she didn’t have time to “vet” the story. LOL

“Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear” does certainly apply to the horndog and his female counterpart.

Has she also dropped the story about how she discovered radium? That’s a good one!

Her main problem is that there are two Dems in the race, each with their own supporters in the MSM. If Obama hadn't run and she was on her way to the nomination on a trail of rose petals like she expected this story would have quickly died.

DING DING DING DING DING!!! We have a winner!!!!!

Hillary denies that madam Curie discovered radium!

“Me first,” exclaimed the plucky presidential prevaricator.

Is the staff that she hired to vet her information going to be the same staff she will depend on for information when she gets that 3am WH phone call?

That is the million dollar question, isn't it??!! That is what the focus should be on, not whether she lied (that is a given with Hillary)...but that her staff couldn't take simple steps to validate this tall tale. If, collectively, none of them recognized the illogical aspect of this story and checked it out fully then they are unqualified to advise her in any way. And if none of them ever bothered to even visit an ER where they would see signs posted all over (in English and Spanish) that state that care is guaranteed by law, regardless of insurance, then Hillary's ability to select qualified people for her staff should be highly suspect. It seems she has only a few of her "yes men" left. Anyone who brings her any knowledge of reality has been dismissed. Anyone who challenges her in any way, is let go. She is left with people who live in her fog, and have no clue about the real world.

I’m getting confused, is this the story about the woman that was hit by sniper fire as she waited for her check to clear before the hospital would admit her?

Remember when she was pushing her Health Care plan when Billy Boy was President? She told a tale about a mother who couldn't get proper treatment for her desperatly ill child, who had a history of confusing symptoms, none of which could be diagnosed, and she couldn't get health care, etc. She used this illustration over and over. Turned out the mother of the child had Munchausen's syndrome...and was making her own child ill for the attention it brought to her (the mother)! Another un-vetted story that Hillary believed and related to further her own agenda. The fact that she has done a similar thing again - only enforces how stupidly gullible she really is, and how little she knows, and how inadequate her sources have always been.

If Hillary (and the like wealthy Hollywood types and rich Dems) was really concerned about the poor and their problems with health care - why don't they all donate money to fund free clinics in impoverished areas for the less fortunate, insurance poor populations? Then it might be believed that they really CARE! They all spend millions talking about what should be done - let's see some of them put their own money out there to do it!

I keep waiting for one of the dim bulbs in the media point this out. It's a little like banging your head against a wall. As you said, you don't want a president who kills the messenger. Really cuts down on information.

You don't get it. The idea is to prove that they CARE with OPM (other people's money). That means, yours.

Meanwhile, they get to keep theirs.

Chelsea also tells this story on the campaign train...as recently as last Thursday when she visited my school (Bloomsburg University of PA) in fact.

Don't everyone attack me at once for being there either LOL :) As an executive in the BU student government, I was given the opportunity to attend as a VIP and meet her before the event, and decided to go...isn't there some quote about keeping the enemy close... :)
