What Are You Reading Now? - My Quarterly Inquiry
3/28/08
Posted on 03/28/2008 6:52:40 AM PDT by MplsSteve
OK everyone, it's time for my quarterly "What Are You Reading Now" post.
I like to get a feel for what Freepers are reading these days. It can be anything...a best seller, a literary classic, a trashy pulp novel, a scientific journal, etc.
Do not demean this thread with posts like "I'm reading this Thread right now". It became un-funny a long time ago.
I'll start. I've just started "One Square Mile Of Hell: The Battle For Tarawa" by John Wukovitz.
Rather than a minute by minute account of the battle, it takes a more personalized view of the battle by interviewing a few combatants and the families of those who died in the battle. I wasn't sure I'd like this format at first - but am really starting to get into this book.
Well...what are YOU reading right now?

I was going to buy that yesterday but surprise surprise the Borders by ASU didnt have a copy readily available.
So instead I decided to get some SciFi novels. Bought the entire Academy series by Jack McDevitt, they sound interesting enough. Besides I need some light reading to counter the Book on Naturalists(historical readings that show the evolution of biology and ecology from Pliny to hippies like Rachel Carlson).

Spy by David Wise. That's a book about FBI traitor Robert Hanssen.

I just finished
The Jedburghs: The Secret History of the Allied Special Forces, France 1944.
Quite interesting, and I learned quite a bit even though I consider myself an avid WWII buff. Interesting info about William Colby's wartime activities...

My latest Costco acquisition. Really good. But how come Adams' picture on the cover looks like Russell Crowe?

Not reading any book right now, just Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, and some boating mags. I have The Forgotten Man by Amity Schlase and Gusher of Lies (can't remember the author) on my list, though.
