I count Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace among the fairest and most incisive interviewers in the business, and hope his tenure at Fox News is a long one. Anyone who can relentlessly cross-exam Mitt Romney on his changed position on abortion the way Wallace did a while back, then turn around and provoke Bill Clinton to near the point of taking a poke at him, is doing his job and playing no favorites. But should Wallace ever wish a change of venue, never fear: MSNBC apparently can find a place for him.
Wallace made some news when, appearing on this past Friday's Fox & Friends, he criticized the hosts for dwelling longer than Chris thought appropriate on Obama's comment that his grandmother was a "typical white person."
On this evening's Hardball, Chris Matthews devoted a segment to the exchange. Eugene Robinson, the affable WaPo columnist and MSNBC political analyst, suggested that refuge awaited Wallace should he need it.

Chris Wallace is a liberal just like his dad, but, believe it or not, he's actually a worse journalist.
Any analysis of his questions will reveal his liberal bent. He simply doesn't ask the questions a conservative would. Why? Because the questions never dawn on him. And why is that? Well, first and foremost, he's not very bright. The host of any talk show sets the upper intelligence level of the show. The lower the host's IQ, the lower the level of intellectual debate. In Chris Wallace's case, it is quite low. He is, in fact, a drag on the show. Just compare the quality of the show when someone like Brit Hume is hosting it. There is no comparison.
Wallace, in addition, fails to ask good questions because he doesn't analyze issues the way conservatives do, and thus he never gains the insight needed to ask the really good questions.
Chris Wallace is also a bad journalist. His show almost always deals with last week's issue, not the coming week's news. It is backward-looking instead of forward-looking. It is thus always the behind the curve. He's never on the crest of the wave.
I would add that Chris Wallace is where he is because of who he is — the son of Mike Wallace — not what he is.
Who's Kiran Gentry?
Michael Frazier
Why do you say this? I don't believe that defending Obama will hurt him. Fox News has been moving steadily leftward for several years.
As I was reading the comments here I thought the same thing, Brit is my man, honest, been there, truthful. Ok
and I think he is cute. I do not like Chris Wallace and his liberalism will never fade.
My apologies. Kiran Chetry.
That walkout was done with humor. I am sure there is tension after Wallace’s unfair criticism.nevertheless.
Fox and Friends are three creepy people (a beauty queen, a newscaster and a sportscaster) pretending to be cutting edge journalist. Give me a break. If Fox fires Wallace and sides with Ducey and Carlson (airhead extraordinaires), then Fox is just as bad as MSNBC.
I often get the impression that Chris Wallace is preoccupied justifying his existence. Like that silly “Player of the Week” segment that reduces the panel discussion by several minutes. He also has a habit of dumping cold water on a discussion by insisting on reading something he wrote on his legal pad days before. It’s as if what’s happening right in front of him is secondary; what matters instead is what he had planned. He’s not smart enough to know what to do with spontaneity.
True. I thought he sounded like a pompous ass. Afterall, the Fox & Friends crew don't tell him how to conduct his show. He had no business scolding them for the content of theirs.
Therefore he sounded like Chris Wallace. I never could understand why he ended up in that position when there are any number of people who would do a better job.
What really rankles about this piece/clip is that apparently it doesn’t dawn on Chrissie Matthews that maybe he should get a clue about adding some balance. Oh, I forgot: nobody would ever go on an MSNBC show and criticize the lack of balance.
This is the kiss of death, Matthews SOFT BALL show is poison. This shows you how Matthews views Crissey = another softball throwing liberal.
I think he lead clinton right into his tirade!
