1200- WOAI ^ | 02/22/08 | Jeff Forsyth

Posted on 02/22/2008 4:42:09 AM PST by torchthemummy

In an interview with 1200 WOAI news during his swing through Texas, longshot Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee outlined a strategy which has him not winning the GOP nomination outright, but pushing the nomination to the September Republican National Convention, which he says will turn to him as the most ‘conservative alternative.’

Romney spent $43 million of his own money just to cover for McCain.

The ROI is still to be seen.

He too will support McCain.

As will I in November. But not until then.

where is your specific proof that Romney proposed the boy scouts hire gay scout masters?

What specifics do Hillary and Romney’s health plans have in common?

I check the facts, not a snipped of an out of context statement from 15 years ago.

I read the Heritage Foundation analysis outlining the specifics of Romney’s health care plan, ... not some knee jerk opposition because it has the word “mandate” in there.

Lots of mandates are tolerated by you and me every day. Mandated auto insurance. Mandated income tax. Mandated home insurance for GNMA mortgage loans, and freddie mac home loans.

Mandated beach tags at the shore. Mandated vaccinations to send your kids to public school.

No one is saying that mandates are fabulously great. But the fact remains that conservative politicians, from Duncan Hunter to Rick Santorum to Ronald Reagan, proposed and tolerated a myriad of government mandates.

Should there be as few as possible? Certainly.

Yet you have this hatred for Romney so bad that you see him as the ONLY one who has ever implemented a mandate.

It’s insane the things you ignore, yet want to blame Romney for every evil under the sun.

You are obsessed with blaming him for doing the same things as other conservatives.

Methinks its more than just policy which make you so hate the man.

Yeah, Fred could be back in it.

Do you realize that you sound exactly like the Ron Paul nutcases who still claim that Ron Paul is winning?

You (and they) need to start facing reality. Sheesh!!!

Huckabee is creating more false hope than Obama.

“huckster wont be the nominee but he will destroy the voice of the Right to Life/social conservative groups.”

Agree. Huck has become MSM’s poster child for the cornpone, gun totin’, hickbone, factually-challenged pro-lifer.

Do you realize, you are so uptight, you can’t recognize a tongue in cheek post when you see one. I know full well that our choices this fall will be Juan McInsane, or Barry Hussein Obama.

Get a life.

You seem to have placed all your trust in one analyst at the Heritage Foundation (who will likely be made fun of very soon by conservatives).

Take a look at what Human Events had to say:

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=22649

And Lew Rockwell and the Ludwig von Mises institute:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig4/howell5.html

And the Cato institute:

Townhall:

And National Review:

Romney’s healthcare plan is socialistic (and you shouldn’t need “authorities” to tell you that).

The plan “opens the door” to ....

The plan “has the potential to”.....

Yes, some conservative writers (notice Gregg Jackson was the author of TWO of those links) don’t like the plan, even though they offer no proposals of their own.

It’s easy for naysayers to stand there and scream DO NOTHING while MediCare and MediCaid continue to pump BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars into covering the uninsured and poor...

as well as the RICH and CLASS who REFUSE to even buy health insurance ... but then have no reluctance to apply for emergency MediCaid when they get sick.

Ironically, even the very conservative hero’s which I’m sure you love (unless you are a Ron Paul sychophant) have refused OVER AND OVER .... let me repeat REFUSED to stop funding the MediCaid and MediCare boondoggles which pays billions of taxpayer funds to cover well off Americans.

At least Romney had the balls to try something....

So unless all these Romney haters (and their political hero’s) are willing to come out and publically propose booting ALL indigents, ALL poor, ALL MediCaid and MediCare receipients OFF OF MEDICAID immediately .....

Then YOU AND ME will continue to pay BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars into government controlled, government mandated health plans ......

So please, let me be polite and ask ......

Provide us with the specifics of a plan that the average conservative politician will jump up and say, “that’s what we should be doing”....

Until you can do that, you are just a destroyer and are creating nothing....

Which in fact, that describes the Romney hating crowd to the ‘T’ ......

Here’s a good place to start your search for the “impossible” solution of letting the free market work in health care (see how far left you’ve already drifted defending Romney’s program — you can’t even concieve that a free market might work):

Expecting the general public to fall on their hands and knees to worship a conservative is just NOT going to happen.

You are so correct.

Like you said, strong social conservatism is the best hope of keeping America the vibrant, moral and prosperous (Eurocentric) country it's been for 250 years ----

Yet it takes a conservative candidate with a strong affable personality (and salesmanship) to win a majority support from the vast American electorate.

Which is why I was so high on (not perfect but very engaging) Mitt Romney -- at the cost of being disparaged and flamed by the "all or nothing" crowd here on FR.

Ironically, the "all or nothing" crowd will still be out there in the wilderness years from now worshiping at the feet of Duncan or whomever their NEW cult figure....

While the country's practical and constructive conservatives are pushing foreward with new conservative ideas and solutions.

The idea is to create, not destroy.

That is how you build brick upon brick a solid conservative organization which has the ability and potential to influence our nation.

Screaming "flip flop homo-lover" or whatever their latest lie is simply destructive -- and will only further drive away the thinking people we so desparately need in the conservative movement.

I didn't see a smiley or a (s) for sarcasm at the end of your post. If it was a sarcastic post, I'm sorry .. I missed it. Mind reading is something I cannot do.

Good point, Ohio. I’m a Buckeye too. Don’t know where you are, but here in the Cleveland area, the Plain Dealer has just about gone ga ga over Obama. I have been hurling every morning after seeing the front page of our paper! What are your papers saying?

Oddly enough Hillary and Bill Clinton almost seem like a known quantity and therefore less risky in comparison.

I think that occasionally, but there is one thing in the Clintons that makes them the wrong choice no matter what...

pure, unadulterated evil.
