>> What do you expect him to do...bash our nominee? <<

We don't have a nominee yet. It takes 1,195 delegates to take the party's nomination and McCain only gained about half that amount so far. Instead, we have Fred endorsing the frontrunner and helping him sew up the nomination.

You may have preferred a slick talking, jack-in-the-box, for President, but we had one of those for 8 years, and that was enough for me.

That is no way to talk about Duncan Hunter or Pres. Bush.

I won't be voting for a traitor with an R by his name.

Having a National Primary Day would require something more than for all the 50 states to voluntarily cooperate, because they WOULDN’T! I am sure New Hampshire and Iowa and probably SC love their “early” status. The 50 states simply will NOT all cooperate.

But I believe a National Primary Day would be a good thing for the country. I don’t think “Momentum” is a serious quality for a great President, but it’s running our campaigns.

>...I will CONSIDER voting McCain/Thompson, because McCain is old and sick and it would possibly groom Thompson to run later.

Thanks for your response. You touched on something that was bugging me and so I used your post to ask more questions and to make my points.

... But since politics is the art of the possible, some compromise is necessary—hopefully on the less vital issues....

I heard this argument many times here in FR and you are probably right, although I don't understand it :).. but then again there many things I don't understand :)

I guess it's in one's DNA. I detest McCain so much nothing in the world could make him more appealing to me, nothing!... And to have one of my own, Duncan in my case and perhaps Huck... although I have my doubts about him, actually accept the VP from this weasel... It would just make vomit for a full day at least :)... But again I understand not everyone is like me.

Also I don't think the world will end if the Rats win. We could still do a lot electing good solid senators and congressmen who will keep them in check. Besides, wonderful things can happen when you lose power. It can very motivating and make you really HUNGRY to win again, but hopefully by this time having dealt with many issues that seem to separate us, because I really believe there is deep division between social conservatives and the others and perhaps... We should not be together but the future will tell.

I also believe in the 'Law of Pendulums,' as applied to politics... it's inevitable that the party in power will make mistakes and eventually accumulate enough of them to tip the balance the other way. I frankly don't see how the Rats can lose this election unless they want to... And I don't think they are that dumb :). Thanks

If McCain by chance should win the election in November we will need to make sure he does not nominate a mushy moderate for the Supreme Court. We and many others got Pres. Bush to rescind the nomination of Harriet Miers, we can do it again if necessary.

If we’re invaded by alien spaceships announcing in unison all over the planet, via loud speakers, that a new world government is about to be formed......

it ain’t gonna happen.

that his statement would inevitably help McCain's picture of inevitability.

Who is opposing him? What help does he need to be our nominee?

Well they may want to. If it looks like Barack is winning, does Clinton Inc go to court to demand the Michigan and Florida delegates get seated or do they just quitely fade into the night? We got problems here so we tend to overlook the problems the Dems have brewing.

What the heck are you talking about? I’m talking about the world governments that are being formed. The UN...the world workers party, world bankers, international business partners, the G8, etc. Where do you got aliens?

I could never vote for that man. How could we ever think about putting nuclear weapons and the safety of our country in that man’s hands!

And, a very good reason not to vote for him. Getting ourselves nuked over our own party candidate is not the way to go. Let the democrats make a mess of things, then, find a real conservative, and fix the problems. Who can keep McCain under control, when he doesn't get his way? Kennedy? /sarcasm

I agree completely. We are all most there with Super Tuesday. Just get enough other states to join in, then use the weight of the majority to force the New Hampshire/Iowa primadonnas to accept the change. Let strip them of their delegates for refusing to follow the will of the majority and move to a national primary day rather then punish states, as both party's did this time, who move their primaries up

“punk”

1. Slang
a. A young person, especially a member of a rebellious counterculture group.
b. An inexperienced young man

Not very descriptive of Fred I would think.

McCain has 2/3s the delegates he needs to win. If Huckabee loses more then 1 single state, he cannot win the nomination. There are about 1200 delegates left to award. Huck needs about 1050, McCain needs 512

I would rather see hillary in the White House than McCain, for the reasons you give. But I’d consider changing my mind if Fred was McC’s VP candidate. It would be a gamble, certainly, but it could open up the possibility of renewing the conservative coalition down the line.

When I say that politics is the art of the possible, I think it’s important that a politician should know WHEN to compromise. For instance, Bush did the right thing not compromising on his SCOTUS appointments (except for the Miers fiasco) because that was absolutely vital.

On the other hand, although I think “No Child Left Behind” was a mistake, if he needed to do it to get re-elected, maybe it was a reasonable sacrifice. But medicare prescription was stupid.

To take another instance, Bush’s support for illegal amnesty was stupid, counterproductive, and abominable. It didn’t gain him any political points, yet it betrayed our country and undermined the conservative movement. And it probably lost a lot of hispanic votes for the future, pointlessly.

So, I’m willing to put up with a few things I don’t like if it gets the important things through, but I’m not willing to put up with stupid mistakes like that on major, major issues. McCain has that kind of stupidity. He loves to do the wrong thing on really major issues.
