Romney has now bowed out of the race leaving only McCain, Paul and Huckabee. It's impossible the latter two have any chance of garnering enough delegates to win the nomination. That leaves McCain. He has slapped Conservatives in the face more than enough times by siding with Socialist Democrats on issues. It's clear McCain will take the GOP farther to the left. The question now becomes how many of you have had enough of the GOP abandoning Conservatism and will in turn leave the GOP?
Jumping ship is what gave rise to the Republican Party to begin with, and soon after got Abraham Lincoln elected as President.
Fine. Vote for SuperRINO McCain and if the past is a lesson, you’ll get twice the number of RINOS on the slate next election
The Democratic and Republican Parties have become merely opposite wings of the same bird, and its the American people who are getting the bird as our elected officials serve their corporate masters and the special interest groups that dominate both parties.
Lou Dobbs
Please elaborate.
Wonderful post, thanks.
besides,we will lose big with or without conservative voters, because the Independents have moved to the Dems over the war, and we lost the Hispanics, we will lose much of the social base when the McCain legacy is exposed by the MSM. We lost and will lose the margins we needed to get elected.
Best to concentrate on State and local until the time comes, and it will, when the people come back to us to fix what is broken. I'm thinking 2014 midterms.
Ditto. Reagan Independent here...
Thanks, but it wasn’t my thought. I was quoting Reagan79, and it was indeed a cogent point.
I’m not “leaving” the GOP as I’m not currently registered as a republican. What I am going to do is help purge the party.
I’m going to do it by voting against every republican that comes down the pike. I don’t care who their primary opponent is - they can be democrat or American communist or even libertarian, but I’m going to vote for the best candidate to force them from office.
Ive thought about that for some time.
I recall having relatives visit when I was a kid. Three of us were probably 6 or 7 years old. We were sitting in the dining room and a cousin was playing with matches and managed to set a roll of paper towels on fire.
Nothing happened and he put it out quickly but there was still smoke and you could smell that something had burned.
Well when mom (and ultimately dad) found out he got his butt whipped with a belt. That was because he knew good and well NOT to fart around with matches but did it anyway.
That wasnt the end of the butt whippings though. My other cousin and I *also* got our butts whipped because although we knew we werent to play with matches (and didnt) we were stupid enough to sit around and watch someone else do it without stopping him or notifying an adult.
Republicans have done too many stupid things or sat around watching someone else do them for way too long. Thats why they ALL need to go.
Yes, Ill gladly vote for Hillary! over the republican choices. Thats a no-brainer.
No, I wont simply sit out. The object is to purge republicans. Maybe the party can be restructured and rebuilt in a few generations but the way it is now is worthless.
It's not a myth. Because of Perot, Clinton was able to win with a plurality, not a majority.
As to FR,this place will be picking up a lot of angry voters in the aftermath of losing this election. As the country begins to feel the real pain of bad economics, they will flood to places where they can get answers. It may be the best thing since Carter.
Sometimes it’s a 25% solution. At least 25% is not 180 opposed to everything we believe in as conservatives. There wasn’t much of a choice to begin with. For that matter there hasn’t been much choice the last few elections. Look at the alternative choice we had with GWB i.e., Gore & Kerry. At least with Bush we got a good SCJ despite what he tried with Harriet Myers.
old=hold
Tom Coburn is introducing McCain at CPAC, he’s giving a good intro - balanced and honest, seems to me.
I agree with this. I know what they are.
The GOP left me.
Indeed. I heard an interview with the retired Marine (Bing...forgot his last name) who wrote about Fallujah. He said the Marines were more welcome in Iraq than in Berkeley. He also said that where he just visited, they no longer wore their flak jackets and helmets.
When the host asked him what would happen if (God forbid) a Dem was elected and gave a date certain for withdrawal, that question stopped this Marine colonel cold. After a long pause, he could only draw a sharp breath. That told me what I needed to know.
Fight on brother! It's gonna be a long and exhausting 4 years...
Thanks (although I'm actually a sister ;-) )... I'm not planning on handing OUR country to the Marxists running with (D)s next to their names.
Which party will have the most conservative influence on the gov’t: the GOP, the Rats, or a third party?
Answer: GOP
I respect your position but why in the world would you give a volunteer a tongue lashing? That hardly seems right.
Great ! Sooo, we can remain friends, then ? LOL
