How Many Freepers Will Leave The GOP?
Man50D

Posted on 02/07/2008 10:39:44 AM PST by Man50D

Romney has now bowed out of the race leaving only McCain, Paul and Huckabee. It's impossible the latter two have any chance of garnering enough delegates to win the nomination. That leaves McCain. He has slapped Conservatives in the face more than enough times by siding with Socialist Democrats on issues. It's clear McCain will take the GOP farther to the left. The question now becomes how many of you have had enough of the GOP abandoning Conservatism and will in turn leave the GOP?

He also swore it wasn’t amnesty (mccain-kennedy) and he also swore to uphold and defend the constitution of the United State (mccain-feingold)

“Oh but he really, really means it this time....with sugar on top!”

Well, if he does stay in for 8 years it's still got to be better than '92-2000 all over again, doesn't it?

I will not vote for President in 2008. I reserve the right to return in 2012.

Leaving the GOP now would be foolish. We are just beginning the battle to take back our party.

I’ll wait till I see what happens but if I were a wagering man , I would venture a wager on Obama taking the whole shootin’ match. He’s raising money faster than his boyz can fill his ledger.

I couldn’t stand it anymore when McCain, Lindsay Graham, and George Bush called me a racist/bigot and told me to sit down and shut up.

Calm down.

I abhor Hillary more than I dislike McCain—but I could never vote for Huckabee and pray he is not the VP nominee. Romney’s pulling out today makes the continuation of the Huckabee nomination irrelevant unless he wants to run as VP.

I am leaving the day McQueeg clinches the nomination, and all hope for a conservative nominee is gone. Sums it up for me. I'll wait for the nominating process praying for something to come out of a brokered convention. Forlorn hope though.

The day after the nominating process nominates McCain, the wife and I will change our voter affiliation.

I’m looking ahead to the mid-terms with the hope we can purge some of the RINOs then.

So, what is a "RINO" now anyway? Someone who's not a modern big government, socialist, mainstream Republican?

I guess that would be me, since I'm a conservative. Guess I'm a RINO now - at least until my local election board processes my latest registration application to change my party affiliation to "I". In the meantime, I'm a "RINO".

As a Indie, I can vote for everyone. The GOP will never be able to take my straight partyline vote for granted again and put up a host of libs for me to vote for.

Screw the Dem-lites!

I am planning to stop by the election office on the way home and switch to Independent. It pains me to do so because I have been a proud Republican since I signed up to cast my first vote for Ronaldus Magnus in 1984. I consider myself a conservative before a Republican, however, and the party has made it abundantly clear that conservatives are no longer welcome by nominating Senator McCain.

I’m not saying I will never come back if the party actually welcomes conservatives again but for now, I am gone.

Vote for Republican senators and congressmen, that is what I say — otherewise we sound like the screaming, flailing kiddies who have been crying since 2000 and threatening suicide because Kerry/Gore didn’t get elected. If you would prefer to hold your breath until you turn blue, or until Al-Qaida finally grows a brain cell and waits for ObamaBoy to be elected and then starts blowing up American daycare centers, while he wrings his hands and feels your pain, do so.

But do not wait up for me.

I registered as an American Independent Party member less than five minutes ago.

I suggest others might want to do the same thing. Look, we can always register as a Republican again on a moment’s notice, but registration numbers are seen by the party elite. It’s time they get a wake up call.

" That's the way to fight! Thank you!"

You're more than welcome! If this is the way it is to be, then this is the fight we must continue to fight to exhaustion. Quitting is easy, that's why losers take that path. But the next four years are far too important to run away from considering we are at war and have Supreme Court appointments coming up. My Conservative Congressman and Senators need a Republican in the Whitehouse even if it is McCain.

I can't leave them on the battlefield to be completely slaughtered by treasonous Democrats. They are counting on me and you, the electorate, to make the best choice under difficult circumstances.

Fight on brother! It's gonna be a long and exhausting 4 years...

Good point. It’s clear the party doesn’t want us except to vote for their liberal hacks. I’m just used to the term.

I guess we should come up with another on for the establishment elites.

Waiting until 2010 may well prove too late for our nation. Please take a moment to read a post I made yesterday. I earnestly believe most of us (me included) have been so wrapped up in the presidential races that we are looking at one part of the political picture when most we need to focus on the entire picture.

I cannot speak for Free Republic Founder Jim Robinson, but can write that he thanked me in a FReepmail for my post. I hope that signifies that there is a message therein that is of great importance to our nation. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1966125/posts

I will be reregistering within minutes of McCain clinching the nomination. I do feel sorry for the poor volunteer or staffer who calls me to contribute to the GOP cause, but not sorry enough give money or withhold the tongue lashing.
