This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:
"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of Americas industrial base."
"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

Huck is not fit nor is he equipped to amend that document.
You change judicial legislators (activist judges) by appointing Constructionist justices.
The problem with huck is that for every position statement that you present from present day... we have you tube videos, newspaper articles, interviews and governing records that stand in direct contrast to some of his positions today. mitt has the very same problem.
I like honesty in my President. I actually demand it of him/her. I heard Hannity interview huck two weeks ago and I heard huck say that he cut taxes in Arkansas. Hannity countered that he had raised taxes overall in Arkansas. huck responded that he had cut taxes in a State that had never cut taxes. Hannity confronted him with a newspaper article highlighting that huck had indeed cut taxes by 240 million dollars... but that he had also raised taxes by 380 million dollars. That is a net TAX INCREASE of 140 million dollars. He said he had to build roads. Hannity asked again... "Are these figures correct"? huck said, "I believe that they are... but I cut taxes". Hannity hit him hard on several other issues and huck came off disingenuous and pompous. Sorry, but that is how I see the guy... I do my own research and that includes data from people on the ground in Arkansas... and I do have some contacts in that State.

Hunter was never a conservative look at his votes on NCLB, Medicare D, Flake Amendments, RSC alternative budget, etc, etc.
Hunter is a corrupt career politician and I am glad I can finally say it here on FR.
He is a great man
Based on your flip flopping and lying, I’m guessing you are a Mitt08Witt.

Based on the posts here they are. The secular hallelujah chorus coming from the Thompson's no churchgoer thread, and all the Mitt-love here--and the Elmer Gantry comparisons to Huckabee, all make me think that the majority of FR has been infected with the knee-jerk anti public Christian expression crowd. The consensus here is that you can pray and read your Bible in private, but don't dare do it in public or mention you do. Such things have become unAmerican.I defend Christian bashing all the time on this forum. I think most people do too. But when you get a candidate who wears his religion on his sleave such as Huckabee, no thanks.
To: DCPatriot
Just give him a honest, serious look, that's all.
Fair enough...My choices were Hunter and Thompson in that order; so, I was giving Mitt serious consideration out of desperation. The memory of 1992 still weighs heavily on my mind; therefore, I will definitely vote against the almost certain Hillary/Obama ticket in Nov. If hunter thinks Huckabee is worth a look, I've got plenty of time until I step into the voting booth and the prospect of another Clinton presidency hits home.

I know Duncan Hunter, and have been proud of him before.
But I have never been prouder of him than I am today. I got goosebumps when I heard the announcement on Fox.
He is a man of principle and integrity. UNCOMPROMISING principle! UNCOMPROMISING integrity!
It is obvious this is not going to win him fans. But that has never mattered to him before, it doesn’t matter to him now.
The problem is not with him. It is with those who do not know him.
What a man. God bless him!

Me neither. I was such a Duncan fan....darn it all.
I used to be a co-President of a Republican Women's group, and Romney spoke one night. I didn't get to see him as I was out of town, but every other friend of mine RAVED about him.

There is a difference between pandering and witnessing for one’s faith. IMO, Huck is a panderer. It’s that simple.

“WE’RE DROWNING IN CONFUSION!!!
Did you know Satan is the author of confusion?”
Yes, you’re right and his next tool is disappointment.
Anyone who doesn’t admit they’re confused at this point, isn’t even being objective.
I was just watching CBS profiling some of the candidates. It was a question/answer thing. Huckabee seems so sincere. I can see how many freepers enjoyed meeting him. I am simply NO GOOD on this sincerity thing. Never have been. I set credit policy for years, and you learned to judge people on their record, not by what you knew about their personal lives or gossip. Thats why I never get into candidates personal lives, religion, etc. and look at what they say, what they do and what theyve done in relationship to this country and government.
It seems thats what weve come down to, gut feeling. Some of you may be experts at that ( I dont see how anyone is), but not me. Im one of these fools who if you stood all of the candidates up in front of me and I knew nothing of them, Id like em all. Well, cept Hillary. Once in a great while I have a visceral reaction to someone that has NEVER been wrong.

*small* business: millions of outlets owned by giant conglomerates but run by entrepreneurs, selling products made in 3rdworld countries all over the map but mainly in China, made by virtual slave labor. (dollar a day + a bowl of rice?) Our country is one big retail outlet from coast to coast. The name, *small business* has become a euphenism, has a friendly, homey sound to it like the corner grocer when that is no longer reality.
