McCain Wins South Carolina GOP Primary, AP Projects
AP | Jan. 19, 2008 | Breaking News

Posted on 01/19/2008 6:18:39 PM PST by Aristotelian

Sen. John McCain won Saturday's South Carolina Republican presidential primary, AP projects.

Fox News and NBC News exit polls ranked the economy as the top concern among South Carolina primary voters, followed by illegal immigration, the war in Iraq, and terrorism.

Columnist and Weekly Standard Editor William Kristol commenting on Saturday's results on the Fox News Channel said that the Republican field is now winnowing down to just three viable candidates: McCain, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Giuliani.

If the choice is McCain or Huckabee... McCain wins hands down.

Who dresses these voters every morning?  Honestly...

Then every election as far as the eye can see, you'll just guarantee that we'll have more RINOS to pick from.

There will be no more Reagan's, Hunters, Thompsons or Tancredo's.

I find it unacceptable that I should vote for Dem lite to beat a Dem.

That's what's watered down conservative principles to the point that we're at now.

Giuliani is not viable candidate. To even suggest he is ridiculous.

Mark Levine endorsed Fred and i was very happy to hear that.

I understand Rush not wanting to influence the process however at this point it could use a little influence. I have no idea who he is for at this point.

On a side note, This is another primary where non republicans can vote. I think that’s the problem.

Paul spent a lot of money out there.

Ron and Romney were the only ones out there campaigning.

I guess you like the global warming and immigration thing with McQueeg? Or maybe it was all the stabs in the back on GWB?

No, I don't like them. They are just lesser massive failings than the other two rejects have (Flip and Rudy). At least McCain is honest about his points of disagreement with conservatives. Romney will stab us in the back while pretending to be on our side. He perfected that tactic in Massachusetts.

Romney? He won’t win against the Clinton machine.

Not so soon.  Romney was wearing a plaid shirt tonight and acting very amiable and relaxed.  America has nine months to get acquainted with this hunk heck of a candidate.

You really think that Rudy's or Mitts are going to be any better?

We settled for Dem lite in Bush 1 and ended up with Souter.

I will be very disappointed if Fred endorses that RINO...it would make me think he has been lying

He has been and is a LOSER. He just hung on long enough to assure his buddy McCain won South Carolina. We'd been better off if Newt Gingrich had run than the great "conservative" dope Fred Thompson.

Wrong!

In SC you have to be a Republican to vote today!

Because it is close to the annual birthday celebration of the greta Scottish poet,Robert Burns, and becuase McCain has a Sottish heritage, I hereinbelow, post a tribute to McCains South Carolina win with a Robert Burns parody poem:

Ode Tae A Fart

Oh whit a sleekit horrible beastie

lurks in your belly after the feastie

Jist as you sit doon amang yer kin

There starts tae stir an enormous win’

*****************************

The neeps ‘n’tatties ‘n’ mushy peas

Start workin’ like a gentle breeze

But soon the puddin’ wi the sauncie face

Will hae ye blowin ‘a’ ower the place

******************************

Nae matter whit the hell ye dae

A’bodys gonny huv tae pay

Even when ye try tae stifle

It’s like a bullet oot a rifle

*************************

Ye hawd yer bum ticht tae the chair

An try tae stop the leakin’ air

Shiftin’ yersel fae cheek tae cheek

An pray tae god it disnae reek

***************************

But aw yer efforts go asunder

When oot it comes, a clap ‘o thunder

Richochets aroon the room

Michty me a sonic boom!

******************************

God Almichty it fairly reeks

Hope a huvnae shit ma breeks

Tae the bog a better scurry

Aw whit the hell, it’s no ma worry

****************************

A’body roon aboot me chokin’

Wan or twa ur nearly boakin

A’ll feel better fur a while

Canny help but raise a smile

*************************

“Wis him!” I shout wi accusin’ glower

Alas too late, he’s just keeled ower

“Ye durty bugger!” they shout and stare

A dinna feel welcome any mair

****************************

But where ye go ,let yer win’ gang free

Sounds like jist the job tae me

But whit a fuss at Johnny's party

Owe the sake ‘O’ wan wee farty.

( P.S. Thankyou Duncan Hunter!)

They are split. I talked to so many people who said they liked Thompson but he was “too late” or that they voted for McCain because of his service. The one old guy told me “I didn’t fight for illegal aliens to take over”. He voted for McCain though his second choice was Thompson.

Giuliani’s counting on the re-located NY voters to pull it out but I doubt that’ll be enough. It’s going to be either Romney or McCain.

Enough with the same-spiel spam. McCain has a stink to him, but he is hands down preferable to ANY Democrat (not to mention Huckabee, Romney, and Rudy). Good God, if he had been in charge, Iraq WOULD have been a freakin’ cakewalk because he would have committed sufficient troops to get the job done.
