Guy, I know and understand what you are saying. But . . . it’s the wrong perspective. The Southern Strategy Doesn’t Win Enough Delegates. This is not the general election. It’s not WTA Electoral Votes.

And showing up at the convention with 200 delegates vs 800 delegates isn’t going to get you annointed. Thompson vs McCain in the south is not the issue. Thompson vs McCain in America is the issue, and because of an enormous mistake in Texas decision making, NY, NJ, Illinois and California are going to tell the tale this year — not the South. Not Texas. Not Alabama. Not the rest of the south. The north and west are going to define momentum.

This is not the yesteryear of smoke filled rooms. This is 2008 where campaigns cost 750 million dollars end to end. There is no way in hell the donors to the 800 delegate candidate are going to tolerate an attempt to annoint the 200 delegate guy. It’s not going to happen.

Thompson has to attack McCain in South Carolina and wherever else he is. He trails both McCain and Huckabee there. Why attack only one, unless there is a special plan the voters need not know about.

I dunno. I watched that one too, and IIRC it was McCain, Huck, and Romney for nearly 20 minutes before anyone else got to talk. Fred didn't get much time, one of Rudy's poses reminded me of how college kids fall alseep in class (the classic arm-pillow). Not exactly, but kinda close.

This format tonight isn't perfect, but at least the bell keeps it moving along. The FOX forum thing relied on the honor system, which as soon as I heard that I kind of puckered, because the 3 guys trying so hard to land the verbal equivalent of a groin kick to each other end up eating all the time up, while Rudy and Fred just kind of sat there. I want to hear everyone (except Paul on foreign policy).

Courtesy comment:

I was somewhat pissed that the gal sitting at the front table went out of her way to try and cut down Thompson.

Like many air-headed voters she showed to be someone who would fit better in the Nancy Delouse wing of the Rat party.

Someone needs to do some research on her and see if she is or might be a weed...err....plant in the focus group.

She sure was negative.

Maybe it’s Rush, changing his mind about stating his candidate before the general. Here he is on Jan. 7th:

~~~~~
http://tinyurl.com/yw8op9
Here is a portion of what Rush said:
My question for you evangelicals is this.
If you’re looking for a real conservative, why are you supporting Huckabee?
He’s completely discredited himself. What about Fred Thompson?
If you’re looking for a real conservative.
Huckabee is constantly engaging in class warfare against the producers. This laid-off line, it’s an attack on Romney, but it’s an attack on producers. It’s an attack on employers. It’s pure populism.
He does oppose school choice! You don’t get the NEA endorsement in New Hampshire by supporting school choice.
~~~

He’s very animated in the 2nd video (hard to watch, for me .. lol).

Fred changed his position re: Terri Schiavo in November I think it was. He got pelted with emails and the press was relentless there for awhile.

Coincidentally, it was after I heard him say something horrid to Tim Russert on Meet the Press. After his MTP, he rethought his position and believe me, if he hadn't come to his senses, I wouldn't be posting this now. MTP even redacted what Fred said from their transcript. Fred's glad they did that, I'm sure.

For euthanasia: McCain, Huckabee, Rudy and Paul.

Protecting life against euthanasia: Romney (met Terri's brother), Hunter, Tancredo, now Thompson, Alan Keyes always.

Death can only come between me and the voting machine!! GO PUBS!!

You may win the battle but lose the war with that tactic.

I'd rather see a full blown liberal win than a Rino. IMO, let America watch the liberal fire hose in full force, then wake up.....they don't seem to notice the trickles.

Paraclete, I’m a Christian conservative. I vote, and it’s important to me that other Christian conservatives vote.

However, I want the guy in the Oval Office to govern, not as a Christian, but as a patriotic American. I don’t want his faith to determine policy.

From a purely Biblical standpoint (won’t quote chapter and verse, though I could), God has repeatedly raised up men to lead nations and accomplish His will on earth. Many of them have been evil but effective.

My prayer is that in November God gives us wisdom and power to elect the leader we NEED, not the one we may deserve.

No, its called a curve or sine wave.

If, even, the the Luntz group cannot whitewash it some other way, but are compelled to acknowledge reality, then it was a superlative achievement. That does not mean we are changing our opinion of their bias and complaints with it.

Had my fourth in GA and nobody thinks anything of it. :)
