"...may be a matter of maturity."

Well, duh!

Most moms, teachers, et al recognize especially in their little boys, they are behind girls in emotional and sometimes physical maturity and do better delaying school or being judged against a class of other boys, not girls, who can focus, hold a pencil, speak and write earlier.

Not a fair contest when younger but they definitely catch up later. What they DO NOT need, is to be labled by schools with a "disorder."

Bogus science!!!!

Great news. Combating attention deficit disorder can be difficult, understanding it is the key. Many adults who have been affected are still undiagnosed and suffer from ADD.

Omega-3 deficiency.

Our modern diets have much too much omega-6 (bad), and far too little omega-3 (good).

The normal supplements don’t fix a deficiency that is several years old. Mega doses of highly purified stuff will make a big difference in a few weeks.

[See Omegabrite.com (No, I don’t have a $$$ interest. My son completely changed his focus and mood with Omega-3 and nothing else.)]

Shocked, I’m totally shocked!

This means an entire industry is doomed!

How will we justify doping up our kids? (sarc/)

Hence the phrase uttered by sisters everywhere:

Why don’t you just grow up!

In the ‘50s the nuns in charge of 45+ size class rooms in my grammer school had no problems controlling fidgety brats.

According to the study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, ADHD in children is caused when portions of the brain mature at a slower pace than normal. For many, the condition eventually normalizes and nearly 80 percent of children grow out of the disorder, the researchers found.

This was reported about six months ago. (Not faulting you for the report) My guess is the medicating of our children has risen considerably since that report.

As a profession, I am seriously in doubt of the brain sciences segment of our society.

While I agree that some problems require medication, it's my opinion that normal kids are being medically abused at an alarming rate.

Children don't come in a cookie cutter mold. They are individuals. Some will act out. Somehow our society and those children survived prior to the policy of drugging them into a stupor.

CHILDREN are not simply short adults.

If this is true, the bastards who have turned our children into drug addicts as a result of their cookie-cutter philosophies deserve to be horse-whipped.

Maybe there remains a voice of reason among the social-engineer class, after all.

ADHD Breakthrough

Lemme guess - - they discovered that "ADHD" was invented in the '80s as an excuse for selling pharmaceuticals and keeping kids medicated in school?

ADHD is what happens when a middle-aged, DINK female school-marm is put into a room full of six year old boys and expects them to sit perfectly still at a desk for an hour at a time.

Face it--it's just a dumb idea.

Anyway, nothing on TV tonight.

-back in the day (yeah, I mean when I was in grade school) we got recesses mid-morning, at lunch and mid-afternoon......and our school day was much shorter.

we were healthier from more exercise, our teachers did this deliberately to give the “antsy” students who couldn’t sit that long a chance to run off some energy....

NOW the kiddies are expected to attend school longer.....sit for longer periods of time with less chance to get up and move......and they blame the child and put him on meds.

I often wonder how these children would do if they were homeschooled.

We expect most of our kids will grow out of this. It's called maturing.

No one would expect a baby not to cry and not flail their arms...I'd call that ADHD...baby style. A thumb sucker finds a solution. A blanket hugger finds a solution. My daughter held two bunnies and we had to sneak the blanket away from my bro to wash it.

Raising any child is an experiment of a sort. They're all different. Love the heck out of them.
