I wonder if Al-Queada is involved, or is this a Mushharrif scheme?.......

They are reporting that Sharif was also "shot at" in an apparent second assasination attempt. Sounds suspicious to me. They took no chances with Bhutto. If they wanted Sharif dead, he would be dead.

Correct. His idea of her security was to place her under house arrest.

Al qaeda = Musharref

If that is the case, why has AQ tried to assassinate him multiple times?

December 26, 2003: President Pervez Musharraf escaped an assassination attempt here on Thursday, the second in 11 days, when two suicide bombers plowed their vehicles into his motorcade and detonated car bombs. He was unhurt, but Pakistani officials said the bombs had killed at least 14 people, including both bombers. At least 46 other people were wounded, they said.

But suspicions immediately centered on Pakistani militants, on members of Al Qaeda or a combination of the two. The twin attacks came two months after the release of an audiotape purportedly from Al Qaeda's No. 2 leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, that urged Pakistanis to overthrow President Musharraf. A senior Pakistani intelligence official said several men from Arab countries were believed to have entered Pakistan and to be operating in four teams carrying out attacks. The official said members of two Pakistani militant groups, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Jaish-e-Muhammad, were believed to be in contact with the foreigners.

Here’s where the DUmmies start claiming it was a Rovian plot.

this is certainly going to screw up the new U.S. policy toward Pakistan in a big way.

What was our new policy?

Sarajevo 1914 again?

That was a confluence of competing interests. This is an internal affair. I don't see this amounting to much. It didn't take Nostradamus to predict this woman would be killed.

I’m still trying to figure out how a suicide bomb featured two gunshots to the neck.

Kinda reminds me of that old joke about how Mussolini died. Looks like a group effort to me.

In a situation like this, you don't get that close without help. A suicide bomber isn't exactly the most mobile of weapons; he has to know exactly when and where to be. Everybody in the security detail would know that. So I can't help but conclude that this was most likely a high-level job rather than a lone attacker, and there are a host of possible motives.

Global communists want chaos.
So does AQ.
ISI hates populists.
Musharraf doesn't want competition.
Neither does Sharif.
...

It's a really sick part of the world, with nukes.

Her assassination has less to do with being a woman as it does with being part of a power struggle.

I am sick... all I can see is Arch Duke Ferdinand all over again. This could be the morning WWIII started — although a lot of people would say it started 30 years ago with the first terrorist attacks.

Yeah,
Musharraf could have just deported her, killing her was just going to piss people off. It wasn’t him..my money was Al-Q or Sharif. Both had a lot to gain with her dead..and the fact that folks would leap to the conclusion it was Musharraf means that it’s a win-win in their POV, the fact there was an attempt on Sharif makes me more, not less suspicious.

Here's my question--do we send some of our SpecOps folks into Warzistan amid all the confusion or do we stay the hell out of it until this all shakes out?

I'm thinking getting what nukes they do have OUT of the country would be our priority number one, and screw what Musharraf wants.

There was also an attack at the rally of another candidate, Sharif, today (he was uninjured). He immediately blamed Musharraf. Personally, I think it’s more likely that the whole thing was engineered to point to Musharraf in order to stir up the people against him, since while he may not be great, he is the only bulwark against AQ.

Exactly. If Sharif was a target today he would be on a slab too. They may well have created a phony attack to divert suspicion from Sharif, who is just as likely to have killed Bhutto as Musharraf, or more so.

Mush had her under arrest and then under house arrest only a month ago or so. He could have killed her anytime he wanted to.

Besides, he has the entire Pak military/security apparatus at his disposal. He wants someone dead, he'll kill them. No need for suicide bombing.

If not Al Q then this was other fundamentalists. The place crawls with them.

Musharraf met with Karzai yestrday. I have to believe AQ was behind this. Pray for our troops, especially those ‘first responders’.

The U.S.A. could easily slip into an “accidental empire” stretching from Pakistan to Syria, with Magog looking on in jealousy.

You consider it a rant to state the facts?
Santa must have been very bad to you this year.....

Perhaps you haven’t heard the Muslim Cleric’s proclamation that “uncovered” women from the West are “fair game” for the horny little bastards...

This was the stated justification for the widespread rapes being committed my Muslims THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, even in countries hosting them as “refugees”...
