Interesting. That very chaos is the reason I tend to doubt Musharrif is behind this- while superficially it may appear to benefit him in upcoming election- there will be so MUCH backlash it will have the opposite effect.

Her meeting with Karzai had to really infuriate Al Q- probably Musharrif too.

This could start the civil war that’s been long expected..

It was my understanding that Bhutto depended on Musharraf’s national security arm for her security - and the two had no love lost between them.

You’ll have to take it up with her. As the saying goes, she’s “free, white and over 21”. So rant all you want if it makes you feel better.

Her assassination is further proof that the region is filled to capacity with pit-dwelling, blood-soaked, sharp-toothed, murder monkeys and troglodytes from Hell.

Unfortunately this is a civil war WE HAVE to get involved in -- we connot in any way let the control of Paks Nukes fall into AQ or Islamic Fundamentalist hands.

Musharraf’s regime is destroying the country.

Musharraf's regime [with the Army] is probably the only thing holding the country together. If he is removed, the Islamic fundamentalists [including AQ], will try to takeover the government. Musharraf has survived multiple assassination attempts by AQ. Those who decry Musharraf and want him removed may get something far worse, similar to what happened in Iran after the Shah fell.

Past, Tell your neighbors to get in touch with their daughter...now...and for her to haul arse for the US embassy, if she can't make that, then head for the Canadian embassy.

She should avoid all demonstrations and public gatherings like the plague. Have her passport handy, but don't show it to ANYONE out of uniform. Further, if shooting does start, get the hell off the streets and stay away from the windows. Heck, she might want to go so far as to don mufti and leave the western dress out of sight.

I have just found out that she was invited and went to a wedding there. She is a feisty sort and does what she wants. Wise? Maybe not. Boring? Never.

I'm praying for her.

Exactly! Musharref is the best choice of a bad lot, but we MUST do anything we can to keep that countries nukes from falling into AQ hands. Musharref may not be a saint, but he is holding the country together in a fashion and keeping the Islamic dogs at bay.

From reports on TimeOnLine...seems someone tried to take out Nawaz Sharif today too...

The latest bombing was the second outbreak of political violence in Pakistan today. Earlier, gunmen inside the offices of a political party that supports Mr Musharraf opened fire on supporters of another former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, killing four, police said.
