A quote from Ron Paul's speech at Politics and Eggs breakfast airing on C-Span now (actual comments aired appx 9:25 pm EST):
"A president has a responsibility to, uh, you know, retaliate against an attack. I don't think there's been a good example of a need to do that throughout our whole history."

Based on your cogent explanation in post #39, I have a favor to ask of you.
Last weekend, at a family party, I got into conversation with a (normally) sensible, conservative, usually well-informed family member who told me he agrees with Paul. I went on to list the things that I have heard Paul say that make sense, and then I challenged the relative on Pauls outrageous comments about September 11. To my astonishment, he told me that he agrees with Paul. This relative stated that our problems with the Middle East began with our assistance in establishing the state of Israel!
I was totally flabbergasted, but I realized how uninformed I am when I fumbled around trying to find an explanation beyond the moral right of the Jews to their Holy Land. I also pointed out how Israel has created a beacon of civilization and democracy in the dismal reason. But I found myself pretty weak in this debate territory searching for arguments showing practical reasons.
Could you please help me? Thanks

Thankfully that's one thing about which we won't have to concern ourselves; Rudy's campaign is disintegrating quickly.
Well, at least that's one thing RP's supporters agree with most every other FReeper on.
No cross-dressing Republicans as our nominee. After the Mark Foley/Larry Craig thing, I think we should abandon that whole pervo-Republican agenda.

"This is the kind of thinking that makes it impossible for me, and many others, to even consider Paul for president"I've read many of your posts to that effect.
You all seem to think that by focusing on the real enemy, and ignoring the straw men, that Ron Paul is somehow a coward and a traitor.
While I understand you don't know who the real enemies of this country are, and therefore you only see the phony straw men, you cannot envision anything further.
Trust me on this one; the Islamo-terrorists are put up by other entities who remain above the fray, and in fact, are considered our "allies".
This puts us in the untenable position of fighting the terrorists with one hand and feeding them with the other.
It has happened many times before, and it continues to this day.
IMO, we need a POTUS who understands this much, and is willing to focus his attention on the real roots of the problem.
Otherwise, we will simply continue on the road to ruin.

So, if I understand you and Ron Paul, no military action is legal without a declaration of war. That must mean President Reagan's decision to take action in Grenada was illegal because Congress didn't declare war on Grenada.
Is that the position?

Ron Paul is not even supported by FR’s founder or management. There is a reason. The fools that follow this clown are no conservatives.

Thanks for that. Rue Paul does a disservice to EVERY American veteran of every war with that inane comment.
Personally, I think that FDR waited too long declaring war on Japan. It should have been done with the bombing of the Panay in 1937. Likewise, the sinking of the Reuben James was sufficient cause to declare war on Nazi Germany.

"And, for what purpose exactly do you make our forum look so foolish and gullible? Merely to libel some Congressman that you just don't like and who you constantly rant will never get even 1% of the GOP primary vote?"
It is not your forum. You did not start it. You are here sullying it up.
"As always, non-troll FReepers with an IQ above room temperature are welcome to join our Ron Paul pinglist via the link in our friendly banner below."
So those of us that do not support Ron Paul are trolls? You are talking of the vast majority of freepers.

You might tell your relative that Ron Paul does not support aid to Israel, "Palestine", or Egypt or our meddling in a "peace process" that compromises Israel's security. We oppose all foreign aid and meddling, including the usual nation-building farces. You can't build a nation for someone else. We've never done so and our few Wilsonian attempts have always failed.
Israel is an established country. While the circumstances of the founding of many countries may be discussed or questioned, Ron Paul and his supporters do not question Israel's right to exist, her control over her territory or her means of dealing with internal security matters including the so-called Palestinians.
We also oppose continued meddling in Kosovo or recognizing its independence by carving off a chunk of Serbia. Another example of Bush/Xlinton unity in foreign policy and a miserable failure although Bush pretended to oppose Xlinton prior to election on this issue. Unless you just really like to reward Muslim genocide against Christians and giving the long-established lands of Christian nations to Muslim narco-terrorists who are the scum of the Balkans and the main processing center for the heroin trade with Europe and the United States. Oh, yeah, and provoking the Russians far far more than even our expansion of NATO to the east. That is why the Russians started talking tough and flying their old Cold War air patrols against the West again too.

Concerning the video, it is absolutely apparent that his words were taken out of context. Uh, oh, excuse me! What I meant to say is the only thing taken out of anything was his mind! Paul is out of his ever lovin’ mind!

If he were president, the terrorists would be the schoolyard bullies picking on the wimpyest kid they could find.
“Mr President, We’ve had major terrorist attacks in 20 cities. Osama has refused your surrender plea. NORAD is reporting incoming. What shall we do?”
PUNT!

this shows that he believes the United States of America is illegitimate, for who can say on these principles that the first European had any right or cause to set foot on Indian soil?If he does, he would be right.

Too bad for communism that we didn't have Paul in the White House during the Cold War. Too bad for Islamofascism that Paul will never be in the White House now.

I'm sorry but you have a considerable amount of homework to do before you can even qualify as a troll.
Shoo.

I realize that the U.S. declared war on Britain, largely over the issue of the impressment of Americans into service on British ships, but what I was getting at is after the British burned down Congress, would Ron Paul even have allowed us to fight back then?

then you’re a guy who won’t even be offended to be told, find out where your folk are from, pack up and head on back, so you don’t have to labeled a hypocrite for benefiting from the scam.

Wilson has long been dead, look up the Truman doctrine.
Germany and Japan to name a couple, are examples.

OK...thanks...that makes more sense. I’ll have to keep the out of context stuff in mind next time.

How about the Jews, where do they go?

A troll is someone that does not endear the patriotism of America and support our troops but blames America for our enemies hating us. A troll is someone that does not see the dangers of al Qaeda or taking the fight to them on their soil and not ours. That is you and your little band of antisocial fools. Anyone that would follow a babbling, frail looking idiot with Elmer Fudd features and a feminine lisp that embraces our enemies in Iran, Cuba, et al. yet has accused our troops of committing war crimes in the past, is a troll. Look in the mirror.
