In addition to raising auto fuel efficiency standards 40 percent, an energy bill passed by Congress yesterday bans the incandescent light bulb by 2014.
President Bush signed the 822-page measure into law today after it was sent up Pennsylvania Avenue in a Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle. The House passed the bill by a 314-100 vote after approval by the Senate last week.

Just think of the impact to the comedy industry. You won’t be able to ask that question anymore.
Of course I will need to rewire my house at great expense. The dimmer switches in my house will not work with fluorescent lights. Al Gore’s insanity has taken control, and is destroying America.
They clean the clothes fine. You just need to run them thru the cycles twice.
Wonderful...Lightbulb bans, sports investigations - steroids and the NFL netork.....Good Lord what a waste.
“after it was sent up Pennsylvania Avenue in a Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle.”
An ugly boring ricegrinder delivers the crappy bill. What a shame it wasn’t Dec 7 and the symbolism would be complete.
Oh, goody! More mercury.
I’m sure all the politicians made sure they will make money off this deal.

I’m sure all the “federalists” running for POTUS are OUTRAGED.

“You just need to run them thru the cycles twice.”

Thomas Edison is spinning at 10,000 rpm in his grave.
Considering that the lights I bought just last year don’t work, better stock up on the light strings, because the LED Christmas lights are enough to make one sick.
The old saying , “i just had a bright idea” now will have to be changed to “I have an idea starting to glow”
If you think they are concerned about facts and substance, you are mistaken.
Well, I’m not a financial investment expert by any means, but I’m going to town tomorrow and buying up all the politically incorrect (and illegal) light bulbs I can buy, cause I hate those other ones.
Wish I had some stock in the old brand (grin).
And just what will be used for incubators and brooders??
