Why do you think Gore went up to California to talk with a bunch of venture capitalists?
First you pick a product that is in every home - then you arrange to make arrangements for a new one to replace it, then you buy up the early, entry stocks, then you get your Comrades in DC to pass a law prohibiting all others, and mandating everyone must buy your product....
I wish we had some real investigative reporters, one who look into who has stocks in these new bulbs - and one who would do a report on how much energy it's going to take to dispose of billions of hazardous-waste bulbs - not to mention the future super-cleanups one day from the millions of bulbs that WONT get taken to the hazardous waste centers but thrown in the household trash.
As for people thinking they saving money - you'll also have to pay for disposal.
This whole thing is blatant insanity - but we have become such a nation of sheep that all we do is cluck-cluck about these total breaches of the Constitution...instead of standing up and saying "NO! This you will not do!"
