A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....12-14,15,16-07....T.G.I.F. at the Finest

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday.

If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown.
I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Wow Dolly, that picture reminds me of this area a little over a year ago. Oct 13. Many were without power for 2 weeks. Here are pics from my place and N. Buffalo. http://www.rusthompson.com/BuffaloStormOct06.html

yes, I recall well last year when you posted those & not sure you remember but I came to visit you & Jul a few weeks later & things were still a mess on the island.

Gotta run.. I have three crock pots of soups going for party tomorrow.. Chili (my vegetarian recipe); Italian Cabbage & Cheddar/brocolli.. ...

all three are meatless & good .. well, my prejudiced opinion.

Later all & have a great day

Well, you can add that to your collection if you want. Then you’ll have two purdy ones. LOL

Goodness, Dolly, that looks like the trees are frozen and ready to break. Terrible that no one can use their Christmas lights for Christmas but I guess that is the least of their troubles.

Tuba event sounds wonderful!

I just said last night. These are the times that try men’s souls. There is much going on in my life that caused this statement but when my son called and told be he got in to an accident I almost cried. No one hurt, the parking lot was sheer ice and he slid into a car.

Life is difficult but sometimes more than others.

Though you cannot see the outcome,
Trust the Lord—He knows what’s best;
Be assured He sees your trial,
And He’s with you in your test. —Hess

For the Christian, testing cannot be separated from trusting.

How true. I will remember this lesson myself. Thank you.

Thankfully, he's safe and no one was hurt. Scary isn't it. My kids keep me saying prayers all the time.

I hate your son had the accident. It would hurt me if either of my sons had an accident. We went through a few fender benders when they were in high school and I suppose most everyone who raised boys may have experienced this. I always thank the Lord no one is hurt. It could always be worse. I know girls have car wrecks too because my granddaughter totaled one on pure ice and it scared her absolutely to death.

My son’s good friend was killed during high school in a car accident. Three came out with just cuts and scratches but this sweet 16 year old was thrown from the car and died. It nearly killed us all. He had spent a lot of time at our house. My son happened not to be with them that evening. Praise the Lord.

It was scary for him but hopefully it will wake him up. I have to replace the bumper, front fender and headlight.

I lost a few friends during my youth, I have turned into a cautious driver and abide by speed limits, well within 10 mph or so. : )
