Clinton Booed at Heartland Forum
December 01, 2007 6:04 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: A day after dealing with a hostage crisis, Sen. Hillary Clinton faced a tough crowd in Iowa. Clinton did not receive the warmest of welcomes at the Heartland Form in Des Moines, IA, and although the hostage scare was mentioned, the announcer brushed it off quickly in order to get to questions. Clinton, who was forced to call in to speak to the crowd of thousands because of weather difficulties, took questions on topics from healthcare to illegal immigration.
The senator was asked if she would "make a decision to give undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship" during her first 100 days in office. Clinton responded saying, "I have been favoring a plan to citizenship for years. I voted for it in the Senate, I have spoke out about it around Iowa and the country and in my campaign. And as president comprehensive immigration reform will be a high priority for me."
Soft booing could be heard from the audience. The man repeated his question about the first 100 days. Clinton replied, "Well you've to get congress to pass the legislation and the president to do as much as possible, which I will do." Louder boos came from the crowd.
Clinton was thanked for her appearance and the moderator expressed sympathies for the ordeal she suffered yesterday. Clinton thanked the moderator. More booing could be heard from the crowd again after she hung up the line.
Barring any travel troubles, Clinton is still planning on attending the Brown and Black Presidential Forum in Des Moines Saturday night.

FoxNews reported that the crowd that booed her was far left. They want the troops home now, illegals legalized now, etc. All the usual far lefty demands.
I was glad too when I heard she got booed until the reporter mentioned the politics of the crowd.
The illegal alien issue is the new “third rail”.
Even Obama found the right airport this time.
“Even Iowa, nearly a thousand miles from our border with Mexico, has felt the impact. Estimates of the illegal immigrant population in Iowa place it between 55,000 and 85,000.”

Its good news that she is loosing the support of her base.
Hillary phoned it in...no kidding, and now in semi private Dhimmicrat only meetings she is endorsing Amnesty again now that the Pravda stage lights can’t produce the requisite sound byte for a TV ad...
No (sarc) thingy necessary!
lol
Let’s just say I do have a VRWC membership card.
Oh yeah, if Hillary was to have stormed that hostage crisis in NH, I’ll bet she would have done it like Janet Reno in Waco.
Probably not, illegal immigration is not wanted by the little people in both parties. Here in Hazleton Pennsylvania, the Republican Mayor won with 90% of the vote because of his tough stance on the issue. Not only that, he won the democratic primary as a write-in candidate. This is a home-run issue if someone can get traction with it.
This is exactly why the MSM is trying to spin the Huckster into the Republican nominee. They understand that if the most pro-amnesty and open borders Republican goes against Hillary or Obama, the issue will be nullified, cancelled out.
I remember arguing with Ross Perot supporters about this point.
Senators from both parties can get away with supporting amnesty without paying the ultimate political price. House members cannot, even Democrat House members know that. The focus on amnesty by the MSM has recently been with Jorge and the Senate, but the story was that Pelosi said she wanted at least 40 Republicans supporting it if it passed the Senate. She may not be too bright but she understood that it would not pass if Republicans did not come over, because there were a lot of Democrats who would be unwilling to commit political suicide by voting for amnesty in a vote that was split along party lines. The polls say there are a lot of Democrats who oppose amnesty, Clinton evidently believes that Presidential candidates will not pay a political price which may be true in the race for the Democrat nomination. But what about the general election, maybe she is banking on Julie Annie who will not make the opposition of amnesty an issue. For this primary voter, amnesty is the only issue that I am looking at. Any Republican who is genuinely and enthusiastically opposing amnesty and for securing the borders is conservative enough for me on the other issues.
I was unable to attend the rally in person too. I’m a little late, but here goes...
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Hey, she was working harder than she ever has calling a bunch of people.
Nope” The writer wasn’t very clear - but I get the distinct impressions that the crowd waned FASTER action on getting illegals made citizens: that they (AND the speaker/questioner) wanted 100 day IMMEDIATE (FDR-style) citizenship.
These are liberal democrats after all - not Americans.
So she escaped this face to face due to bad weather. Next, she’ll have the flu.
That’s what I understood it to be - so there must be illegal aliens there.
No big deal, the boos will just be edited out, like MTV and VH1 did at the WTC benefit concert.
Nobody will ever know. It’ll be like it never happened!
Mark
best bob hope line ever.
