Cheering crowd attends disputed ordination of two women as priests

ST. LOUIS — To the Roman Catholic Church, the ceremony was not an ordination. In fact, it wasn't even Roman Catholic. But to two women and the approximately 600 people who came to cheer them on, history was made Sunday in St. Louis as the two became the first women ever in the city to be ordained as Catholic priests.

And the first ever, perhaps in the world, to be ordained in a synagogue.

Rose Marie Hudson, 67, of Festus, and Elsie Hainz McGrath, 69, of St. Louis, were ordained as priests by an organization called Roman Catholic Womenpriests, which defines itself "as an international initiative within the Roman Catholic Church."

Not only is the Archdiocese of St. Louis upset about the women participating in an ordination ceremony, but the church and others in the interfaith community were upset that the Central Reform Congregation, in the Central West End, hosted the event.

"The event of today is really very sad because the name Roman Catholic has been misused and misapplied," said Dr. Lawrence J. Welch, a Kenrick-Glennon Seminary theology professor. "There's been no ordination of Roman Catholic priests. In fact, there has been a profaning of something Roman Catholics believe is very sacred."

Radical Feminists trying everything to bring down any sort of Christianity... The Catholic faith being their target in this case.

Just like the Holy Roman Empire, which was neither Holy, nor Roman, nor an empire, these women are neither Roman, nor catholic, nor priests.

Don’t worry about that - it is not a part of a priest’s responsibilities to prophesy. I am quite certain that the Lord wasn’t addressing these two blaspheming women in Joel or Acts.

~ PRAYER ~

St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle
Be our protection against the wickedness
and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him, we  humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
 by the power of God,
Thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits
who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
 Amen

Wonderful we could justify it with an appeal to the dangers of using so much fuel for presidential travel in this age of global warming. Every region with a Prez will save the Environment.

The Roman Catholic church doesn't allow women to become priests and St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke sent the women a letter condemning their plans and informing them they would automatically be excommunicated if they went ahead.

Fait accompli!

"Holy Orders don’t need the Pope’s command. They are a Sacrament and therefore Infallible."

Trouble is, the attempted ordination of women is not Holy Orders, any more than the attempted consecration of beer & pizza is the Holy Eucharist. No sacrament.

A valid Sacrament requires four things:

Even if they said the correct words (valid form) and they sincerely believed they would become priests (valid intention), they lacked a valid minister (an actual, sho-nuff bishop in communion with the other bishops of the Church) and valid matter (a male ordinand.)

Not even close. And no cigar.

For a real ordination you need a lawfully consecrated bishop, which was lacking in this case, and even a real bishop can’t ordain ineligible persons, such as an unbaptized adult male, or a 4-year-old boy even if he has been baptized...or a baptized woman.

...and to become a bishop there must be three bishops to concecrate him.

"Can I be an Arch Bishop?"

Go for ArchAngel. By your name, you sound like a tasty worthy invitee to our annual Lowerarchy Banquet, and I'm sure you'll find we'll give you a hungry enthusiastic welcome.

Women can certainly be filled with the Holy Spirit, and great spiritual teachers, as were St. Catherine of Siena, St. Theresa of Avila, and St. Therese of Lisieux. They can be Prophetesses, both in the Old Testament and the New. Women and men are equally called to holiness. The really interesting people in Catholicism are not the priests, or even the popes, but the saints.

Incidentally, the Blessed Virgin Mary was not a priest, but if she miraculously appeared to Pope Benedict XVI, which of the two, do you think, would drop to their knees?

"It’s not just the Catholics either. The whole institution of religion is being taken over by this crap."

But these make-it-up-as-you-go-along ladies have not taken over the Catholic Church. And they never will.
