BAGHDAD, Nov. 7 American forces have routed Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, the Iraqi militant network, from every neighborhood of Baghdad, a top American general said today, allowing American troops involved in the surge to depart as planned.
Maj. Gen. Joseph F. Fil Jr., commander of United States forces in Baghdad, also said that American troops had yet to clear some 13 percent of the city, including Sadr City and several other areas controlled by Shiite militias. But, he said, theres just no question that violence had declined since a spike in June.
Murder victims are down 80 percent from where they were at the peak, and attacks involving improvised bombs are down 70 percent, he said.
General Fil attributed the decline to improvements in the Iraqi security forces, a cease-fire ordered by the Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr, the disruption of financing for insurgents, and, most significant, Iraqis rejection of the rule of the gun.

Rush said this article was on page A 19. The Times probably choked to even publish this good news.

Yeah, as I
posted earlier in this thread, the real takeaway is not the story, I saw it yesterday. The big news was that the NYTimes printed it and gave it a decent headline. Of course, they placed in on page A19, I understand, but this is still amazing. The good news is trickling in to their newspaper.

Although it is on page A19 still they have to report about VICTORY. By March 2008 the news of VICTORY in Iraq will be on page one despite all the efforts of liberals and their media to hide it.

Hey, did you see that photo that Yon posted of the Christians and muslims working together to put a cross back up on a church in Baghdad? It was incredibly moving to me. It's beautiful, isn't it? Peace is breaking out all over this place. Iraqis have always pretty much gotten along regardless of their religion. It was al Qaeda and Iran's thugs (Mookie Sadr's pals) coming in that caused all of the divisiveness. The people themselves aren't really that way at all and want to be united just as Iraqis again.
I took this photo in September from a Black Hawk helicopter. That church in the foreground is a Christian church very close to my base in central Baghdad and the attendance there has been increasing recently.

Pelosi and Co. are desperately trying to get us out of there before our victory is complete. She’ll undoubtedly be playing the “it’s a civil war” card again in the next few days during the lastest “force the troops home” vote despite the very encouraging facts stated in this article.

Rush noted that this news was buried on page A-19. Front page is same old global warming cr@p.

Irony is, of course, that under the Surge, many troops will be home by Christmas...and the dems will probably take credit for it.

Yes, I believe that was indeed a flying pig! Did they really say that al Qaeda was defeated in Baghdad?
It must be freezing in hell today.
To: MrB; Loyal Buckeye
While yes, fake but accurate, a democrat congressman or senator (name is escaping me at the moment) actually said that terorrist attacks and killings are down in Iraq because there is no one left for the terrorists to kill!
