Is there a specific date FreeRepublicans celebrate FR's birth? Or is there a day it ought to be celebrated (besides every day)?

The site was officially stared on Sept 23, 1996. Well that should be an easy day to remember. It's the same day as the Mrs and mine anniversary. In fact it was our 12th.

Thanks for providing all of us the single most powerful voice on the internet. Much appreciated, Jim.

I'll call that and toss in a TLBshow for giggles.

Now I remember it well. It was for dollar-a-day donors. What a great premium it was.
I always serve coffee or tea in it for any liberal friend who comes a'calling at the MinuteGal abode......and I wish I had more!
I'm so grateful to you, Bob J.....and Gene (Seeking the Truth) and Diotima, who I miss terribly on this board.
The mug does more than pleasure my conservative instincts, but it reminds of long-time freeper friends I had the honor of meeting personally over the years.
Here's mug in your eyes!

Jim — thank you so much for that link!!! I’ve bookmarked it and have already gone over some old posts. Great to see those familiar names.
What was life like before Free Republic?? I shudder just thinking about it!

Bob J donated those mugs a few years ago to the monthly donors.

Thanks—I’ve been “going to” get around to doing a search for him—just haven’t had time, yet. I’ll freepmail him to say hi.

Thank you Mary for the heads up on the name change. When I had to reregister (my first name was really even more boring than the one I have now...initial and birthday) so, it was back during Whitewater and I wanted to get back on asap...and there were other 'moms' so I followed suit. Only prob, sometimes some posters get sorta patronizing...and I think if I had a more generic name I wouldnt run into that. Its good to know that if I get frustrated I can 'change.'

By golly, some actually remember me! How many remember Trixi, or Cal(xx)?
Meeting so many FReepers in DC my very first trip there was awesome!
Basil, that "midnight walk" to sit on the Capitol steps, to marvel at the beauty is a memory I'll treasure always!
We walked from the Senators Grill (Or is it called 'Bar?') sometime well after dark. Wonderful! T'wit, God rest his soul, laughed so hard that night. Then I went running outside to meet The Jim Robinson, and actually helped carry in some luggage. LOL
I had a lot of the people there sign a book I had brought (Can't remember the author's name right now, but he had worked for a government agency and spoke at the rally. Hey, cut me some slack, I'm getting elderly and my memory leaks a lot!)
I'm still around, and log onto FR daily. Been here officially since March 29, 1998, but lurked a long time before that.

Budge! He's still here! Woo hoo!
Then there was WhitewaterResearcher too, who frequented the posts linked by DrudgeReport. I eventually met him at a Chicago-area rally one time.

Budge!!! Glad to see you hanging around these parts!
Can't remember the author's name right now, but he had worked for a government agency and spoke at the rally.
Are you talking about Gary Aldrich and this book, perhaps?

"By golly, some actually remember me!" Of course we remember you. You're not that easy to forget. You're one of a kind, Budge. Sorry I've been so remiss in keepikng in touch. You just did catch me. I'm on the run as usual. Was just fixin' to turn the computer off and head out for the day. You kids play nice, now!
